Default Towing capacity RATING of '03 vs '04

Perhaps this has been mentioned and I missed it, but it appears that the Pilot now has a "Standard" and a "Maximum" towing capacity rating. Is this Honda's way of acknowledging that you can tow light loads (1,000# or less) without the coolers?

It comes up when doing a "compare" of the Pilot on the Honda website.

EDITED But only the "Maximum" shows up when you look at the specifications".

Default Towing capacity

My understanding for 2004 is you can tow up to 3,500 lbs with the Towing Package (Hitch, Harness, Trans Cooler, P/S Cooler). If it's a boat, you can tow up to 4,500 lbs, since boats are more aerodynamic.

This is true. The point I was making with the thread is that (at least with the '04 Honda website) they show a "standard" and a "maximum" towing capacity. Never before (it seems) has Honda acknowledged anything other than the full-blown package for towing. Are they now? I think - yes.

Just my .02
