Newbie here, I'm looking at several options to replace my 2005 Ford F250 Diesel truck. I'm looking at the Pilot, GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse. I haven't figured out which one, I tow an 18' boat and trave from Washington to Texas several times a year and the truckh has some high miles on it. So here I am, help me make a decision.
Thanks The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits. |

You may want to go with a Suburban depending on the weight of the boat. Keep in mind the AWD (4x4) Pilot Touring ( trans cooler, etc.) is limited to 4,500 pounds when towing. Off the top of my head can't tell you the tongue weight limit. Can't tell you about the other light-weight s.u.v.s. Good luck! The Pilot is a great people hauler but is def. limited when it comes to towing with just a six.

How heavily loaded in the SUV (People and luggage). The Pilot seems about on par with most Unibody SUVs for towing, and above in terms of reliability. That said, there are a few that have light pickup tow ratings (7200 to 7700 LB), but they all have trade offs.

Limiting myself to your choice of SUV, if you go with the GM products, you must get the towing option installed at the factory to get 5000lb towing capacity. Without it, warranty if voided if you tow more than 2000lbs. But you do get a six speed gear box with a broader range of gear ratios
With the Pilot, you'll need AWD version and all the requisite coolers to get the 4500 towing capacity. IMHO I think the Pilot struggles towing large loads that create the parachute effect. Whether the Traverse struggles who knows, but I'm sure there is a forum for that! |

Not sure but i think i would give GM a try! I like their new styles and they are top seller as I read or heard from TV news not long.
