Default Another Review of Volvo XC90

http://autos.en.msn.ca/advice/defaul...Home&pos=Edit5

One of the cons listed is as having a "large turning diameter". I've always thought that that was a good thing, especially on big cars. But wait a minute, XC90 isn't a big car now, is it? It's not even a true SUV, come to think of it.

OMG, and I just read that it's base model base price is at $55,000CDN!! Without even having driven the car, I know the car's not worth more than $15,000CDN than my Pilot. I wonder who'll buy these things. For the same money, I'd rather get the MDX. And for the XC90 to match the X specs, you're looking at the T6 model, the higher end one at $60,000CDN.

I think Volvo just copped out with this one. Wanting to grab a share of the growing SUV, but not wanting to spend the R&D to properly develop a real, true, SUV, they just suped up their station wagons and slapped an SUV label on it.

The more of these reviews come out, the better I feel about my Pilot

I drove the XC on Saturday and liked it. It feels like a large BMW X5. Very nice interior, decent drive (with the V6).

Steering was a little light for me, but the SUV was very nice. I think it compares well to the MDX. (They are seven months out on orders right now).

The Volvo is not something I'd compare the Pilot to. They are in different leagues, the Volvo is more luxury orientated.

I actually think the XC70 is the best Volvo out there. (This is there cross country wagon).

Default I own both

I own both the Pilot and the Volvo, so don't go slamming the Volvo. We own it for different reasons than the Pilot, and it's simply in a different class of comfort and luxury (similar to my previous X5) than the Pilot. The Pilot is a good workhorse.

I drove past a Volo dealership the other day and dropped in to look @ the XC 90. Very smart looking vehicle from the outside, but the interior is cramped. I couldn't adjust the front seats because the battery on the showroom car wasn't hooked up. The second row feels like there's not much more legroom than the Pilot's third row. And the Volvo's third row...forgetabout it! As much as people complain about the legroom in the Pilot's third row, it's the Taj Mahal compared to the Volvo. Head and legroom are really tight. I could manage a short trip in the Pilot's jim crow section if I had to, but it was almost impossible for me to even get my 6'2" 240lb self in the back of the Volvo at all. I'm sure it's a very nice vehicle, but the Volvo XC 90 feels like it's in a totally different (smaller) class than the Pilot.

I park next to one everyday at work and I'll have to agree. It just looks like a slightly bigger, jacked up, "regular" Volvo.

Holy cow, you own both the Pilot and the XC90? I guess it's a silly question, but you got the Pilot before the XC90, correct? Also, did you consider anything else in competition with the XC90 before settling down on the XC90?

Bought the VC90 for my wife, while I still owned a BMX X5. Sold the BMW recently and bought the Pilot. I wanted something a little bigger, a little cheaper(less expensive) and something I wouldn't get stressed about when it stayed filthy in our Cleveland winters.

I also wanted the DVD player, since I'm a stay at home dad with a two year old.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like the Pilot. I've had to ease my driving style a little vs. the X5, but overall I'm quite pleased.

The XC90 is perfect for my wife. We wanted her up high, in something safe, with more creature comforts than the Pilot.
