my dad has an '05 MDX. Great car. Drives very car like. You see very little of the hood. The Pilot is much more truck like and is a more casual driver. The Pilot's controls are more user friendly, they are easier to be in tuned with.

Anyone know if the new MDX's have the VTM-4 lock?

My Honda dealership has always been cool.

2007 4x4 honda pilot. that's it. i've driven an '05 Acura MDX, ask me they compare well, except the pilot drives like it should - like a truck, the mdx, a car.

I have a steel blue 2007 4x4 EX-L. navigation, back up camera and it came with roof racks.

I'm into off-roading with the Pilot. anyone else?

I bought my 2004 Pilot from Crown Honda in Greensboro NC when I was living there, and had both the Pilot and my CRV serviced with them. I can not tell you enough of how happy I was with their customer service and after sales and after warranty support. Let me state this, I am a very hard consumer to get a good rating from as I am in the "gold quality customer satisfaction business" with an engineering background. I would not hesitate to do business or recommend crown Honda.

At the same time I had my Mitsubishi Montero Sport serviced literatly across the street at the Mitsubishi dealership - that's all I'll say about that dealership.

It's boils down to the folks at the dealership, not the brand IMHO.

NB: I had an out of warranty idle control valve problem on the Pilot when I came back to Canada. The local dealership was prepared to charge an arm and a leg to diagnose and repair - and rightly so under the circumstances.

I called Honda US for assistance and diagnosed the Pilot myself. They accepted my diagnostics given my professional background and the use of the scan tool on the fault code. I offered to do the work myself if they covered the parts. Honda US called back within 2hrs approving all repairs, based on my request and more to the point on their conversation with the dealer I bought the Pilot from. The service manager gave us a very high recommendation as a Honda customer.
To this day I can call them for oppionions and also speak with their foreman if I need to; and they always make the time for me.

These folks have nothing more financialy to gain from me as I have left the country 1.5 years ago - Yet their dedication to customer service has not waivered.

Sorry for my rather long winded $0.02
