Wink Honda Pilot vs Volvo XC90

I had a 2003 Volvo XC90 T6 Turbo. I loved the truck, very sporty and lots of options. But I have to admit, I had a ton of mechanical issues with the Volvo. If it wasn't the ball joints going bad, it was the turbo crapping out or the torsion bars fracturing. Same problems happened repeatedly and the truck only had 36,000 miles. Volvo just kept telling me they were "working out the bugs." No thanks.

So I bought a Honda. Much more reliable, less options, but well worth it. I tried the Highlander, which is basically a stripped down Lexus RX300/RX330, and I preferred the Pilot by a long shot. The Highlander felt smaller and missed some of the grat options that the Pilot had. The HIhglander was also AWD, which is a gas hog, in my opinion. Although I did like the 17" rims on the Higlander (I think the 16 inch on the Pilot are too small). But I sell wheels and tires for a living, so I can easily fix the wheel issue! www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com CHECK IT OUT!www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com

I dunno what the mods will say about your pluging your business, but I do know what to say about your Pilot.

Hey just noticed your website doesn't have any Honda stuff.

Negative. As stated before Highlander is not RWD and the real-world fuel economy in the Highlander kicks the Pilots butt. As it should since it's smaller, weighs a lot less and has a less-powerfull engine

We cross shopped the XC90 with the pilot. It's a nice lookng vehicle but hear you on the reliability.

The base engine was appreciably weaker and it had no practical storage space in the front.

Unhappy

There's a series of videos with comparison of the 2009 Honda Pilot and the Volvo XC90 here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVyIemtysso

The problem is I can't understand anything they say because it's in Russian, but still there are some interesting scenes in the videos.

My vote goes to Honda. My next SUV will either by Pilot or MDX depending on what deal I can find at the time. Pilot is actually a 8 seater in 2-3-3 seat configuration, if I am not mistaken. I have owned Accord and own TL and am satisfied Honda customer. Volvo may be a safe vehicle, but I not sure about its long term reliability, especially if there are a lot of Ford engineered parts, and cost to repair as compared to North American built Pilot.
