Question What were your top 3 choices?

OK let's compare notes here......what were your top 3 picks when you were shopping for your SUV?

Here's what mine were, after I drove the Pilot:

1. Honda Pilot
2. Toyota Highlander
3. Nissan Pathfinder

I didn't get hooked on the Pilot until my second drive......

I would go with:

1. Pilot - since I can't affod the MDX
2. Pathfinder - heard great things from Nissan owners
3. Highlander - haven't heard anything from anyone.

5: Expedition - only because I already oned one, thought the new one would be better

4: Explorer - The redesign is much better than previous generation
3: Envoy - nice truck, great engine, not enough room
2: Sequoia - loved everything about except the price tag

1: PILOT - quality, reliability, space, power and function - it was an easy decision.

I LOVE MY PILOT!

1.) Pilot - BIG time. More room, more power, more handling, more quality.
2.) Highlander - Had put a depoit on this, when two days latter in February, I read about the Pilot
3.) MDX
4.) Tribute
5.) Envoy

1)Pilot

2)MDX(If I hadn't read about the Pilot back in March, I would be driving an 02 MDX.

3)Moutaineer. I was $300 away from closing the deal. Needless to say the dealer called me back a couple of days later, but I had already discovered the MDX and was no longer interested in the Mountaineer. Whew, that was close... What was I thinking ??? BTW the Mercury dealership offered me over 2k for my Villager on trade, the Honda dealership offered $200.00.

I never considered 5 seaters or the GM and Dodge products.

1. Pilot
2. Highlander
3. Expedition

Ultimately chose the pilot for honda reliability and the third row seat. My kids love it back there.

Wanted a 7+ passenger 4WD, so:

3. Trailblazer
2. Explorer
1. Pilot

I liked the Pilot (and Honda quality) best, and even at MSRP it was cheaper than the X Plan prices (business partner pricing - not as good as employee pricing, but often at or below "invoice" price) on the others.

Before test drives and comparisons:

1. Lexus RX-300
2. Acura MDX
3. Toyota Sequoia
4. Toyota 4 Runner
5. Toyota Highlander
6. Nissan Pathfinder

I had not heard of the Pilot when I first started my search.

After comparisons:

1. Honda Pilot - Hands down, the all-around winner in my book
2. Lexus RX-300 - Too expensive, but a very close second
3. Toyota Sequoia - Too big, poor fuel economy. With a good 6 cyl, this would have been a contender.
4. Acura MDX - Too expensive, not too crazy about it's looks. Even if it were priced the same as the Pilot, I would still buy the Pilot. One of my primary goals in replacing my V8 JGC was to reduce my fuel costs. The MDX requires Premium and that wa a major deterence.
5. Nissan Pathfinder - I can't remember exactly what we thought about the Pathfinder, only that we ruled it out. I think it was my wife that put the nail in this one. But obviously I wasn't too impressed with it either or I would have remembered more about it. I do remember enough to know that it ranked higher than the other two Toyota SUVs when we had finished our testing.
6. Toyota 4 Runner - Felt small and cramped, sort of expensive, exterior needed updated (this was before the 2003 were out), ride was the worst of the bunch. Would have been my choice if I was going for serious off-roading, but not for street driving.
7. Toyota Highlander - About the only thing I liked was its looks.
