Default 2004 vs. 2005?

hi...can anyone provide me the differences between 2004 and 2005 models?

i'm in the market for a used EX model, and not sure if the 2005 model has many (or any) advantages over the 2004.

thanks!

2005 has moonroof on EX-L models. More horsepower (255), Think VSA was new to 05, not sure.

From Edmunds...

"The Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine for 2005, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings. "

Actually, the 2005 models advertised 255 HP (the window sticker for my 2005 has this)... this was before the new SAE-certified test procedure was used by Honda. Under the new procedure, it became 244.

2005 was 255 listed. Suddently I lost 11 HP because of the rating changed.

Yep. According to the SAE, the new procedure is more accurate. The funny thing is that not all cars ended up with lower HP ratings with the new procedure... some actually increased.

well, some increased because they did put up more HP in the new year model, isn't it?

For example, TSX was 200hp on '04/05. with '06 model, they adjust the intake and small things which originally was going to announce it 210hp. But with the new rating, they drop it back to 205.

No, I meant that on some cars the HP rating went up with the exact same engine.

From Wikipedia...

"Many manufacturers began switching to the new rating immediately, often with surprising results. The rated output of Cadillac's supercharger Northstar V8 jumped from 440 hp (328 kW) to 469 hp (350 kW) under the new tests, while the rating for Toyota's Camry 3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6 fell from 210 hp (157 kW) to 190 hp (142 kW). The first engine certified under the new program was the 7.0 L LS7 used in the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Certified power rose slightly from 500 hp (373 kW) to 505 hp (377 kW)."

hmm, for silver color Pilot, 05 used Billet Silver to replace Starlight Silver in 03-04.

For remote key, from 05, it is combined 2 in 1.

Moonroof was a big issue when I was comparing between MDX & Pilot, but I purchased the MDX instead.
