Default Convincing myself to own a Honda Pilot

I was an owner of a Mercury Sable until I encountered an accident where the car was rear-ended and totalled by a Ford Ranger.

Now I am in the market for a new vehicle.

I am thinking whether to own a hybrid (e.g., Honda Accord Hybrid) or a non-hybrid (e.g., Honda Pilot).

Thanks for sharing any thoughts.

What are your needs for a vehicle? Do you have kids? How many? Frequent road trips? Camping? Trailer? Boat? Live in a state where Hybrids gets perks? (tax break, carpool lane, etc)

Strictly talking about "value" the Pilot is the better choice. The current model can be purchased for more than 1000 less than Invoice. You won't see an Accord Hybrid below MSRP for a few years.

Why do want a Hybrid? They are significantly more expensive than their non-hybrid versions. If I remember correctly the Hybrid Accord got only 8 miles more per gallon average but cost at least 5K more in real cost. It would take a significant rise in gas prices to make this up even with tax breaks that are shrinking soon. If the reason is environmental, then that is a different story.

You also need to decide how large a vehicle you need - car, SUV, etc. and what you will use it for. Either way, any Honda is a great choice.

Welcome to our humble forum!! IMHO, this decision should be based on your personal family needs more than anything else. The fact that the Accord is a hybrid is not a factor - unless you rule out the Pilot and are shopping Accords.

Do you need a pseudo SUV or do you need a family sedan??

Good Luck!!
