Question pilot or rendezvous cxl/ultra

I've notice that the new rendezvous cxl and ultra versions have 6/7 passenger seating and slightly better mpg than the pilot. I was wondering if anyone has compared this vehicle to the pilot or has owned a late model rendezvous?

I've never seen anyone even discuss the Buick on this site. I myself didn't really even consider and American SUV when comparing vehicles.

Well, the reliability of the Buick has been good but it is smaller than the Pilot, has worse crash test results, and max towing capacity is less. To get equivalent horsepower as the Pilot you need to step up to the Ultra which starts at 39K in AWD form. Gm's employee pricing shows MSRP of 40K discounted to 34K. You can get a Pilot for less than 30K (much less depending on the model). If you are still seriously considering the Rend Ultra, then I would go test drive a base Acura MDX which can be had for invoice at 33K. Good Luck with whatever you buy.

Welcome to the forum!!! IMHO, Buick has come a long way to rebuild their quality image - but they historically suffer VERY badly in the depreciation category. This will likely be even worse with the latest round of discounting.

Good Luck with whatever you chose!!

Cool

I stand enlightened. I guess I've gotten vibes that honda is learning how to do suv's and that the Americans weren't that far behind. Ultra's specs seem superior to a top model Honda. Not sure I wan't to get an MDX until my 2nd out of college job or post-grad school though (Who knows what premium gas will be like by then)! I'm also thinking of a late model "pre-owned" XC90 to compare.

Thanks for everyone's imput though.

They are but the Ultra is an extra 4K+ that you will never get back in resale. The Honda will retain a high resale value.

The MDX recommends premium gas but a lot of owners run regular with no problems.

Reliability would be the concern with the XC90.

No Problem.

You sure about that? I think they missed some.

I will say that GM said they were making Buick's standard warranty something like 4yrs/50K miles, but that may be for 2006 models. Still not worth it IMO.

The Buick is just about the same size of the pilot... my cousin has one... and the third row seat is just bigger but smaller room.
