Question Honda's nail polish paint - any good????

Crip Blue Hello to everyone, I have a 2003 LX Pilot, it has a few nicks and very minor chips of paint missing, I did pick up the Silver nail polish that Honda dealers offer, but I'm scared to use it on my "P", has anyone used it @ all, and if so what are the results.

Scared to damage the "Rhino Pilot" paint.

Bought it many years ago for my '95 Accord. The dude at the dealership said to apply it with a matchbook match. The torn end, not the flammable end. Anyway, I didn't think it worked all that well and I suppose using the polish brush wouldn't have worked that well either.

I think many people here have used it on one vehicle or another. I typically pick up a bottle for each car I own. With a little care when applying, it does a decent job. You can either buy it at the stealer, sometimes at autoparts stores (even Wally-World for the more common colors) and if worse comes to worse, direct.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

The problem with any of the touch up paints is the stinkin' brush. It's hard to, as colorider says, be careful when applying, with that brush. A Testors brush from a craft store, with fewer bristles, or sometimes even a toothpick, is a better applicator than that stinkin' brush.

Jimmy Perez - I've never used the touch-up paint with a brush but I used the chip-mender brand touch-up paint pen from H and A Accessories. Check Here.

I used the Honda touch up paint on my wife's Integra a few years ago, and the brush was a pain...too much paint delivered and left "lumps", plus the color wasn't a perfect match.

I bought touch-up brushes from Griots Garage (griotsgarage.com). They have a much smaller head to touch up minor chips. Touched up the Scubaru last fall and it did a great job. They''re pretty cheap, so shipping for them may be more than the product. He's got some nice car care products...a little pricey, but they work well.

Here's what I'm using. Dupli-color matches the factory paint and the pen tip applicator is good for fixing the pinpoint chips. You can even use it to trace along fine scratches.

Of course there may still be a texture difference, but the pen tip doesn't cause as much over application as the brush type products. And if you have a larger defect to repair, a brush applicator is included.

You should be able to find it at your local auto parts store and other places. No need to pay a premium for Honda a logo.

Unfortunately they don't seem to have silver for Honda.

I've used that and some others too. The pen type tips is good. What i found the best is the Touch-Up Pen from AutoVisual.

Since i'm using Langka (The "Blob" Eliminator) now, it doesn't matter what type it is, the brush works great for me. I need the paint to blob and then use the Langka to level it out. Work's great for me.

I have used a Honda touchup kit, but I have used a couple of US mfgr kits. What a mistake that was. After the mess, I swore only for airbrush touchups. I will add however I might try this pen gizmo!
