Please choose the option that most accurately describes whether your Pilot has vibration at or around 70 mph as discussed in the thread "Sustained vibration at 70 mph".

I've had the Pilot for a year & have accumulated 18,000 km driving in different conditions, terrains & speeds. I've never experienced the vibration (@ any speed) described by other members.

I've got it. New 2004 less than 3,000 miles. Time is precious, so I thought I'd bring it up at the first oil change...
Edit here: A note to those who don't have it: Not to be a car snob, but what are you comparing it to? I'm just trying to get a little perspective here. For example, the pilot is just slightly smoother than my pickup truck. The truck has two bad tires that won't balance, haven't replaced them yet as they are nearing the end of their natural life anyway. I've had Mercedes & Volvo cars before the Pilot. They were ROCK SOLID to 100mph. Maybe It's a case of knowing what you are missing... They say you don't know how much you love something until you loose it.

I traded in an 02 CRV EX L for the Pilot, the V had the vibrations @ 110k/hr. It was very noticeable as soon as the speedo hit 110 the steering wheel will start vibrating. I had it looked into @ the dealership a couple of times but it was never resolved & never pushed it after that since I traded it in for the Pilot.

Mine comes and goes. Whenever I have a relatively clear traffic in front of me on the freeway, I step on it to see how bad it is and sometimes I feel a very slight vibration and sometimes it's seems smooth. That's why I didn't even bother to bring it up with the service department since I know I'm gonna get the all too familiar "if we can't duplicate it, we can't look at it" line.
What's still bothering me is, even though it was about 4 months ago, how I experienced this noticeable vibration/shake/shimmy on the highway while on the way back from our holidays. But that was right about at a steady 60MPH for me, not 70MPH and only when the RPM was between about 1600-1900 and happened whether I was on flat roads, going uphill or downhill. I had the tires checked out by a Goodyear certified tireshop the nextday and found nothing wrong. But ever since then, at speeds above 60MPH/100KM/H, sometimes I'll feel a slight vibration and sometimes not when holding steady between 1600-1900RPM. It's very frustrating. I know it's not the particular road I'm travelling on because on the same stretch of the freeway, oneday I'll feel the slight vibration and another I don't. I do check my tire pressure quite often and the vibration experience for me has been the same between summer and now. I read somewhere that it might've been the EGR valves acting up, not the tires. If that's the case, I surely hope that these things will malfunction enough to bring about a situation like N_Jay experienced, with the VTM-4 & Check Engine light coming on so I can have it replaced/repaird before my warranty expires. Oh, and anybody know if the EGR valve warranty is considered emission systems? Also, the tranny falls under the powertrain warranty? Thanks. |

I had my 2005 for 6 months. I had the dealer replace the first set of Goodyears, no help. Then I got American Honda involved and they authorized the dealer to reimburse me for a new set of Michelin Cross Terrains. It still vibrated above 65. The dealership and American Honda said essentially "they all do it" and that they were reimbursing me for new tires in the interest of customer service. That, coupled with the EGR problem I had in the first week, and a multitude of rattles and squeaks, the worst being in the dash above the radio, made me crazy. Oh, and it pinged on regular gas. After 12,000 miserable miles, I unloaded it and got a Durango. So far, COMPLETELY trouble free.
I'm 49, and this was my first and last Japanese car. And I tell anybody that asks "why'd you get rid of your Pilot?" quite simply "because it was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned". |

Never had it until I got new tires. Now I do. Hmmm - balance, alignment, inflation, or lug torque? I think I'll check the easy ones first...

have same vibration at 70 mph, hence I go over 80mph where it disappears. kidding aside, I think it was my tires GY Integrities with close to 59K miles to them. After the usual rotation however, it is back to normal-meaning no more vibration.

I have a 2005 with less than 2000 miles on it and it comes and goes at 80 mph. It has not been an issue for me because I don't normally drive at 80. However I do plan on bringing it up at my first oil change.
Note that I have had some work done on the front driver side wheel. The dealer said I had a torn CU Boot that was leaking. After they replaced it my alignment was off. So I had to take it back and they realigned it. However it still appears to me that my steering wheel sits at a slight angle when I drive straight (bringing that up at the first oil change too).
