We've owned two Hondas, 2005 Odyssey and 2010 Pilot. I would buy another Honda, maybe next time much smaller commuter car. Both ours held value well and provided decent resale. The biggest reason we traded both of ours in was tire usage (Odyssey; needing third of tires at 62,000) and overall around town mileage (Pilot). But from pure engineer sense both vehicles were very reliable. I don't know what to tell Honda, gas is going to continue to get more expensive to inevitable to push hybrid development further, or maybe a clean diesel for US market?

Yup.

My '06 Pilot is my first Honda and I'm very happy with it's reliability which was the one main reason I bought her in the first place. As said by many I don't drive as much as I intended when I first bought my SUV and so I'll see myself shopping for a much smaller vehicle in the future. Probably something along the lines of a hybrid or diesel Fit, if it ever gets made .

I am going to say YES. Of the 4 Honda/Acura Vehicles we've owned since 2005 we have had absolutely nothing major go wrong. On the said 4 vehicles we've put a total of 200,000 miles between them all.

Just got back from the Auto show. Unless I hit the lottery ( don't waste your money), I couldn't be happier with choosing a Honda Pilot.

Yes. Have a 2004 Pilot with 255,000 miles. No problems. Has been a dream. Would be in the market for a new one, but newer design just does not appeal to me.

3 Hondas ('92 Civic, '02 CR-V, and now a '12 Pilot). The first two were rock solid (too early to tell on the new one). All repairs were appropriate for the age/mileage at the time. I've had two Honda motorcycles that were both even more reliable. I've had two Nissans ('98 Maxima and '89 240SX) that were also very reliable. Maybe not quite as good as my Hondas, but excellent nonetheless. Had a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was always a bit dodgy (rattles, parts coming loose, etc) but mostly alright for 60K miles, then it was one thing after another for the next 40K. Final year of my ownership I must have sunk $4K - $5K into it. And for the record, I take very good care of my cars in terms of maintenance, care, and driving habits.

Yes! Once we move to Texas in May, we will be selling our Pilot and buying the Odyssey as our family is expanding. I need the Pilot to tow my Acura.

I would say that we will probably stick with Honda/Acura as they are one of the safest and most reliable vehicles out there. Also, they hold their value.

I don't need any replacement cars right now but will do in 2-3 years.
Hoping by then that Honda has recovered from all the screw ups they have been introducing over the past few years.

Honestly our Pilot (also our first Honda) has been quite the disappointment. We picked up the Pilot (its an 08) two summers ago after our lease ended on a 5.7 Commander.

The Pilot was attractive because it was decently cheap and could tow our boat (3750 lbs). However it has proven to be unreliable. Nothing big, just a bunch of small things which is kind of annoying. I had the Jeep for 4 years and had to take it in once because a window wouldn't go up.

-Sunroof motor broke
-AC just started blowing warm
-Liftgate got misaligned somehow causing the spoiler to snap off. Replaced the hinges and it still does it, not sure what's going on.
-Hood also got misaligned I literally have no idea how. Whenever I open it now the back corner by the windshield hits the body and bends up.

The other thing is the gas milage. I will admit that I didn't even look at the Pilot's MPGs when I purchased it. I (stupidly) assumed that it would get better than the Commander's big HEMI. Well we're averaging about 14.5mpgs. This is probably because the car is so underpowered which means the engine has to rev really high to get up to speed.

Overall, the car isn't terrible but it's nothing special. My next car will be a Touareg TDI V10. 310 horsepower and 560ft/lbs of torque, all while getting about 23 mpgs and a much nicer interior.

Sorry if this sounded like a huge rant, it just isn't the right car for us.

If reliability is a primary concern, a VW Touareg is not a wise choice. This is one of my favorite threads: "Touareg a year plan" . At keast VW was standing behind their junk.

Reliability isn't really my primary concern. I was just disappointed because everyone says Hondas are super reliable. As I said, it hasn't been horrible or anything, I guess I just had really good luck with my previous cars over recent years (Saab 9-3, 4Runner, Audi A6, Commander). I get that stuff breaks. The reliability will definitely be worse on the Treg but I'll gain $6000 up front and $3000+ a year on gas!(and more power)

The Pilot has been great for most of you so enjoy them!

Godfather, from the sounds of it your Pilot was in an accident that twisted the body, hence the misalignment.

This is exactly what I thought when I read his post yesterday. I bet there was an accident and repair that didn't show up on the carfax (assuming he check it before buying).
