Default How many of you would buy a hybrid pilot if they made one?

I have an 03 and am only looking at hybrids to replce this car. This car is used mainly to shuffle kids and as a grocery getter around town so it would get great milage as a hybrid. I love the new pilot and would already have one in my driveway if Honda built a hybrid Pilot

Right now I get like 13-15 max ( all around town) and I would really like a hybrid to get the 25 in the city

Depends on price of gas and the premium charged for the hybrid version.

I woudln't buy one just because it was a hybrid....it would have to have way better MPG than the non hybrid version. I personally don't drive enough miles to make up the difference in up front cost.

I've done several alternative fuel analyses for my fleet at work, and the only way to make them work is to either identify vehicles that are driven way more than the average vehicle, or identify tax credits to offset the extra cost of purchasing/converting alternative fuel vehicles.

The Ford Escape Hybrid seems to get more incremental MPGs as a hybrid than a lot of other models in it's class. I've never looked them, but I recently rode in an Escape and was thankful that I have a Pilot.

Bio-Diesel and waste-oil are very different issues.

Waste-oil is a joke, Bio-Diesel is questionable.

We are on fossil fuels until we either scale up nuclear or really cut back consumption.

Haha...where can I get a "Reality is no Fun" bumper sticker?

Anyway, I would only buy a hybrid if the upfront cost could be recouped in 40k miles.

Sounds like N-Jay will be checking out his local Mazda dealer in 2012......

Ignoring the spelling error in the poll, I don't think I'll need a car as big as a Pilot when I replace it in max 4 years time-my youngest will be 15 by then.

I hope not!

The next vehicle to be replaced is the Pilot and I am guessing 2014 or so.

I don't mind going for hybrid if the gas prices are low and if hybrid is on a mega discount sale

I dont think Hybrids are the way to go. The v6 in the current Pilot is under-powered, so I couldn't imagine a hybrid engine being any better, so probably not. Plus, how are the battery systems looking after 5 years or longer? What's the cost for a new battery?

But, it would depend upon the premium charged for them as well as the engine performance.
