Talking Custom Exhaust

Would anyone be interested in a custom dual exhaust for their Pilot?

THe function of this is to make it easier for the Pilot to Breathe, so to speak, and it is for looks. WE are not going to say that it gives a huge amount of horsepower but you might get 10-12 max gain of HP, with headers all the way back.

If we can get enough people interested in this, we can get a dyno done of the Pilot with the stock exhaust and then one again after the piece is installed.

Roro's looks awesome!! I can't waitg to see ours done

They don't make them for the Pilot at all anywhere but my husband can fabricate one for the Pilots. He is doing one for our Pilot with custom Headers as well, along with a custom CAI. He was interested to see how many Pilot owners would be interested in this custom exhaust and then once pics are posted of the CAI (in process of fabricating now) that as well.

Actually, the dual exhaust was my idea and he liked it too.

We will be taking pics when we are done, the price I will have to get back to you on since we have just got done rebuilding the Engine and Transmission on the Pilot and getting it back together now finally after like 2 months of it being down.

We were gauging interest since there is no love for the pilot.

There's a lot of love for the Pilot - because it does what it does well, without any mods.

At least we're consistent. There's been very little interest in any type of modifications, other than wheels and tires or the usual cargo accessory additions.

My father would have that same comment

There is no love, as in aftermarket. I'm a youngin (30) and and I can't stand the tails and headlights that come with them. I have the clear taillights and I am getting retrofit headlights for the Pilot. The retros have beeter lighting which is good for any driver who may have a hard time seeing at night like myself. I have also have rebuilt the engine and tranny and dressed up the engine bay a little bit with powder coating. Just because the pilot has love in the form of doing what it's supposed doesn't mean they can't look "pimp" with a "thumpin" sound system which mine has.

I feel so...adult. But I'm gonna keep tossing the AARP mailers that started showing up last year in the trash!

I'm interested but as in all Hondas, we are speed density. That will ultimately stop the gains your are searching for.

I think a nice catback system with a little nicer tone, better flow and a tip that compliments the Pilot would be great! On the other hand, while under the Pilot this summer I couldn't help but notice a nasty crimp and bend for the factory header <-- there has to be HP there.

Anyways, you can see I am on both sides of the fence! Good luck and keep us updated!

P.S. With the V6 being as popular as it is, what are the chances that an existing aftermarket header setup would work?

My husband is designing the headers himself as well. WE are going to be the "guinea pigs" for this. I will definately get pics of before and after. Right now we are trying to get the pilot back together from a rebuild so we can start to fabricate these items and get them posted. From what we can tell no one makes an aftermarket one, we tried the TL ones but they hit the rear cross shaft and differential houseing to the rear.

Where the bend in the factory header there is HP there. We can't totally get rid of that crimp since it is there for a reason, that reason is to keep the pipe coming from both heads the same length, if they were different lengths the mismatched exhaust gases from each cylinder would collide in the pipe creating turbulance instead of a smooth flow.

Nicely noted on the equal vs unequal length headers! What I was thinking (and easily as I'm not fabricating) was to bring both pipes together with one of these:

How big going back, 2.5" or 3" ?

2.5" to the Y for the split to the mufflers then 2" to the mufflers.
