Default Is this a Discriminatory Statement

Do you think that this post made by jdeanski here in this forum is discriminatory?

----------------------------------------------------------
Gays, like any other minority should not be discriminated because of their sexual preference, however marriage is a tradition between a man and a women as old as time itself. I see no problems with extending the legal protections of a committed couple to a pair of gays, just make it a legal agreement but don't call it marriage.

Being gay is contrary to the laws of nature, it should be considered as a disability, but it does happen through no fault of their own.

JDeanski's quoted statements are alot of things, but I don't believe discriminatory is one of them.

The way he defines and refers to homosexual is flawed on so many different levels - as well as condescending and deeply insulting. It is an intolerant and ignorant statement and belief. It is completely unaccepting and disgustingly self centered viewpoint - that is unfortunately shared by many of his ilk (that is - Born Again Right Wing Christian Neo Cons).

But is it discriminatory? Not by the definition of discriminatory - but it certainly is inflammatory and implicates "discriminatory" behavior.

I'd vote if you had a third category "who gives a crap."

marriage is between a man and a woman. No legal benefits should be given to a gay couple. However, I would not call it a disability. Many states spoke in the last election. They may have voted for liberals, but referendums were more conservative in their outcomes.

Typical bad survey.

There are six independent, though related thoughts in his post.

I see two that are clearly "discriminating", however only one of them that could be considered in the commonly misused negative connotation of the word.

Quick definitions (discriminatory)
adjective: manifesting partiality (Example: "A discriminatory tax")
adjective: containing or implying a slight or showing prejudice (Example: "Discriminatory attitudes and practices")
adjective: being biased or having a belief or attitude formed beforehand
adjective: capable of making fine distinctions

(and yes, for those who wish to say that I edit the definitions; this IS the complete "quick definition" from Onelook.com)

I can understand the first part of his statement...however
Being gay is contrary to the laws of nature, it should be considered as a disability is just sad and pathetic

I have never heard it phrased that way, but I do understand where he is coming from.(Now because I said I "understand", some will interpret that as I "agree")

EVERYTHING is a "disability", "disorder", "syndrome" or "clinical condition".

Ever hear of Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD)?. It's a form of depression people get when the days get shorter and the weather turns colder in the Fall. If you suffer from this condition you should seek medical, and probably psychiatric, attention immediately. You are sick. Sick, SICK SICK!!

I $hit you not. So, they get a little bummed out because Summer's over, therefore, they suffer from a "disorder".

(Sorry for the thread drift.)

Anyways, why are there so many people who object so strongly to what other people do, even though it has no practical impact on them? To paraphrase ...

"I don't have an SUV, I don't want an SUV, and I don't want anybody else to have an SUV."
"I don't have a gun, I don't want a gun, and I don't want anybody else to have a gun."
"I don't smoke, I don't want to smoke, and I don't want anybody else to smoke"
(Add your own here.)

Sure, that's why I would like to know in which way gay marriage would affect people who has nothing to do with that marriage.
What do I care if a man gets married to another man or a woman to another woman, that doesnt affect my rights to get married with a woman.

Its just pure ridiculous extreme right wing religious intolerance, from people not accepting anything that is different from them, or maybe too afraid of their own sexuality.

I bet that Jdeansky or N_jay would never be friends with a man who is gay.

Please allow me point out something very important that I believe some of you have misread. I DID NOT say being gay is a disability. I said it should be CONSIDERED as such.

Somewhere in the Bible there is a statement about "going forth and multiplying". The task of reproduction in necessary for the survival of the species and requires a male and a female. Two guys can't reproduce nor can two females. Sure there are a couple of aberrations in nature but they don't apply to human beings. Being gay is not the norm but it's not their fault, due to a quirk of nature their brains aren't wired in a normal way, that's what I'm trying to get across.

You just don't get the point, do you.......... It's a law of NATURE that the Bible quotes. If a species is to SURVIVE it needs to propagate, and I'm sorry but two guys or two women can't make babies by themselves.
