I got your P.M. and yes we have the 70mph vibs. I just bought new tires for her Pilot and I have only drove it once since then but I got it up to 80 mph and did not feel any vibs but I will need to drive it more to know. We are going on our summer vacation in a couple of weeks and I will post back with the results then.

i have a slight pulsing feedback while making a turn, thought it was normal.

My pilot is an '05 EX with the Goodyear Integrity's. I bought it used last month with 14K miles on it. My wife complained of the vibration first so I thought a simple balance would fix it...that is what I did. We went on a trip just after that which was a total of 1,200 miles. On the drive to our destination (600 mi) we still experienced that annoying vibration 65 to 80 Mph. I took it to a Honda dealer in Indianapolis and they did a road-force balance on it to check the tires for defects in out-of-round and the balance. They said all the tires are ok except two needed balancing. I though - oh great, this should fix it...low and behold, I still had the vibration. We drove back home and I took it to a local Honda dealer and explained the whole thing. They took new wheels/tires off from a new '05 and put them on mine - the problem was worse! They took those back off mine, balanced them and put them back on the new '05 and test drove it. The service manager still felt it on the new one. How nice for the buyer of this new Pilot. The manager stated that he never had good experiences with Goodyear’s on Hondas in his 22 years in the service dept. My choices were to wear these tires out and replace them if I can put up with it, pay for new ones now if I can't. The last choice was to call the Honda customer service line and voice my complaint and hope they help me out.

I read all the posts on the 70 mph vibration (17+ pages on this site) and some were fixed by replacing the tires, others were not. Some were EGR valves which seemed to be a different problem that mimicked this problem.
Well, I'm working on my own theory because I have both of these problems and I am trying to figure out if the two are related in that the pulse or surge in the power steering pump is the root of all the "70 mph" vibration problems. Actually, I think the vibration is most noticeable around 70 but I think it happens at other speeds (faster and slower). I think the vibration is more pronounced in small turns such as changing lanes at hwy speeds. I don't have any uneven wear on my tires at all. Any time I had vibrations in previous cars, I always had the associated uneven tire wear. That's why I'm looking more towards a mechanical problem instead of tires. My theory is the power steering is introducing this vibration with a pulse/surge and happens to be more noticeable at 70!

that could be, but i don't think there is just one answer.

I don't have any vibration at 70 but do notice a pulse in the steering while turning corners.

wonder if I should be worried.....

After I assisted installing a co-worker's towing kit on her Pilot last year, I noticed that there was a pulsating feel while turning. I bled the power steering system by turning the steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times and checking the level of the fluids. Viola!, no more pulsating feel on the steering wheel while turning.

Ditto on the ditto on the ditto! No problems with "vibration" - 05 EX (Bridgestones) - 5k on the clock.

I suppose your are right, I should have had a "None of either" listed to get a percentage of the total. I was just looking for total numbers of individuals who are having both or either. I'll try the "Stop to Stop" trick on the power steering to see if that fixes it...maybe it will get rid of the vibration at 70 also...if that is the fix then there will be many more happy Pilot owners!!!!

Well ... I am glad that I ran across you guys. I just bought a 2005 Pilot. I had the hitch installed by Honda. I noticed some vibration lower than 70 mph but assumed that I was unfamiliar with the car. Lo and behold, when I drove the car home I noticed a significant vibration in the steering starting around 69mph, peaking at around 76 mph and fading to "normal at around 80 mph. The vibration feels like a wheel balance problem. Currently the dealer is trying to help, however they are not confident that they can fix the problem. Things I have tried:
1) Rebalanced the original Goodyear Integrity front tires - no change in vibration
2) Swapped read wheels/tires to front - no change
3) Drove another new Pilot (Bridgestone wheels/tires). Noticed less vibration but the vibration was still there.
4) Swapped the Bridgestone wheels/tires onto my Pilot. Noticed less vibration but the vibration was still there.
5) Dealer wants to do Radial Force Variation balance ... I will do this on Tues.
6) Dealer expects that I will have to talk to the Honda Dealer Rep within the month.

I think that there was a TSB (but I can't get the full details) where wheel bearing were not properly lubricated. This TSB should not apply to my April built Pilot though ... unless the production problems continued in spite of the TSB

I think that we should keep this thread open until we resolve this issue.
