Default SB 07-028 Intermediate Shaft Heat Shield Replacement

I haven't seen this posted, so I will go ahead and do the honors.

I just got back from the dealership after having the Intermediate Shaft Heat Sheild and related fasteners replaced. The problem was the manufacture fastened the screws on too tight, which caused the high pitched whistling noise on acceleration. Replacing the heat shield and fasteners caused the noise to disappear.

Hi there, CrownCityPilot,

I brought my Pilot in to service they did say there was a service bulletin for heat shield they replaced it ( supposedly), but I am still getting that same noise, my noise seem to come from the passenger side toward toward the front passenger and rear passenger door.

The service ticket says replaced heatshield above the right rear axle. Is this where the intermediate shaft heatshield is?

I'm asking you this because I know there are several heatshields under the pilot, like one above the drive shaft , one by the exhaust system etc..

I'm thinking they replaced the wrong one, or at least the non-problematic one.

I 'm going to bring it in this weekend, I wanted to know the location the intermediate shaft heatshield, because the noise isn't coming from the rear, ( where the heatshield was replaced) it's more toward the side on mine. Any input would be appreciated.

The noise on my Pilot was in the same area you are describing. They replaced the heat shield above the right rear axle.

I didn't see the actual TSB so I am not sure.
