Thanks, I had just made up my mind to live with the CD changer whine.

Awesome resource!

Anyone have access to the TSB on dash rattle that's plagued the Pilot since the very first '03s, or pointers on how to find specific TSBs? Looking forward to getting my dash rattle fixed, and eager to help the service techs get it done the first time.

I went the the stealer for my 30k service and listed this as a warranty issue. Of course, they claimed the whine wasn't there, but then he also told me that the TSB didn't apply to my vehicle, only to factory installed underseat CD changers, just like I have in my EXL/Nav!!! I get to fight it out when I return to have them install another part under a warranty issue next week... I will be sure to bring a print out of this TSB then.

While checking on other issues, like that above, I found this. I went out to see if the stealer fixed it when I was in today, assuming they didn't. I was right, but they did remove the metal valve caps and replaced them with NOTHING!! Why do I think they will tell me that there weren't any there when I brought it in...

Moon Honda, in Moon Township, PA is well worth avoiding!!

Yeah, having your tires go flat because water entered the schrader valves and corroded them, making them leak slowly is no fun.

That's why you have valve stem caps.

Had oil change at dealer and I went to check air pressure a week later and the aluminum valve caps were replaced with grey plastic ones. I called and asked why they took my caps. They said come in and we will get you new ones. So I did and a technician came out and told me that there is a problem with them. He showed me that the new plastic caps have rubber seals in them. He said they are supposed to just replace them as they come in. I knew the caps seemed to be tough to get off so I lightly greased them a year or so ago. I asked if I could get a set of originals and I will grease them and he said no. I think the plastic caps look weird. Oh well.. The worst thing is that they did it without telling me. I felt as though they stoled them off my car for a few days till I got back to the dealer and was explained the situation. I also noticed the 2007 Odysseys have the weird looking plastic caps.

Yeah, they should have told you about the replacement and why when your service was completed (is it in your service summary paperwork?).

As you now know, the metal caps had a problem with corrosion (mostly in the northern states) and are replaced by the plastic ones as defined by a TSB.

tim.s
I looked and did not find any mention of the cap replacement on the service invoice. This irritated me so bad that it caused me to go looking for a new Honda dealership looking for a Odyssey. We have been looking for a while to replace our 2004 Accord EX-L v6 w/Navi & XM. We found a Honda dealership that is closer and brand new and they have stock like you would not believe. After the technitian explained the situation (old dealership) and I found this thread, we are going to go back to that old dealership to see what kind of price we can get since we have bought 2 brand new Hondas within 2 years from them. They might be able to save us some $$$.
