I don't know, but I was about to start a thread and find out. Good thing for the "search" box - I wouldn't have wanted to make extra work for the Mod's.

I'm pretty sure it was there this morning, but I see some of the new posts have earned points already.

It's not directly related to your number of posts, because CMH-OHIO-Pilot has more points than posts. And if it was related to threadstarting, you'd have some points...unless you need a minimum number of responses to generate points.

On a lot of the other forums I was on you would get points for posting in the more technical forums and no points for general chat in the regional and miscellaneous. Something about generating more posts in the other forums. MODS? Help us out here!

Jeez, must not be what I was thinking since I have like 3000 points and havent posted that much useful stuff.

Oh the other forums let you use your points to "buy" things or whatnot on the board. Not physical stuff, but just you could do things. Struggling to remember what tho.

Actually, that's a really good idea. But I don't think that the case here. I'm fairly new to the board and have only 47 posts, but I have 67 points. I noticed another new member that has 26 posts with 626 points. It's gotta have something to with views and/or replies to post or starting threads. This particular member caught the eye of many members.
Just a guess, we will propably here about what's up in the next few days

I just added this post and saw one more post and one more point!

looks like the same point system as acuramdx.org, when you post you earn points for the amount of responses you get.

I think it's just messed up right now. I haven't seen anyone with a join date earlier than March 04 with points. But members who joined March 04 and later have credit for new threads and posts.

Looks like points for posts (even for your first post) and bonus points if your thread generates replies, as camanopilot pointed out.

Can't wait, there will be tons of new threads now.

When we were originally offered the opportunity to go to the points system like our sister board, we pretty soundly rejected the idea. You accumulate points based on the "quality" of you posts, and can use the points to "buy" customized member titles, or buy the ability to change another member's avatar or title, etc. I don't really know how posts are analyzed to award points, and it appears we have no way to redeem points, if we will at all. Personally, I voted against using the system here.

Yep - we did. So maybe that's why we don't have any!!!

Default No points... regardless

I've been on a couple forums with points and they've led to nothing but "problems". People posting crap posts just for the points so they can be "bigger & better". If there's going to be a ranking system, I think it should be awarded by moderators or a panel on a case-by-case basis. This should be determined on quality, not quantity.

Here is one of the original threads and polls that cussed and discussed the points system. Results show that it wasn't a well-received idea....
