Default Browser Refresh?

This morning, for the first time ever using this site, I find that I have to constantly refresh to make sure I have the latest page. And it happens on every page. I've dumped all my cache, cookies, history, etc., but it's still happening. Could the server be serving up leftovers?

Default Two things come to mind

I can think of two things that can cause your problem:

(1) Your browser settings may be incorrectly set. For IE click on tools; Internet Options; select the General Tab; Click on Settings (under Temporary Internet files); Topic - Check for newer versions of stored pages, move your check mark to 'every visit to page'.

(2) You may have just installed one of the 'Internet dial-up speed enhancers' that are being offered by ISPs. The internet services here are guaranteeing at least 3x faster loading using your existing 56kb lines. What you really get is another page buffer on your hard drive - it serves up stored pages to your browser, regardless of the browser setting you have selected. I installed one on my system and found that the ONLY way I could get to a newer version of a page was to hit refresh - It was probably installed on my machine for about 10 minutes before I trashed it.....

Shows once again - there is NO free lunch. 56kb is still only 56kb....

raleighpilot, thanks, but:

1. I use Safari on my Mac, and its settings never changed, and h-p.org was the only site exhibiting this behavior; it was back to normal yesterday evening.

2. I haven't used dial-up in almost two years, never used enhancers, but did switch from DSL to cable modem last Thursday. But again, h-p.org was the only site with the issue.

Every tme I did a refresh, I got a new page. The issue is that I had to force a refresh on every single page. Sure made reading the board a pain.

I wonder if it had to do with the server's clock being one hour ahead yesterday...??? For most of the day, it seemed that all the posts had a date/time stamp ONE hour ahead of the current local time...

(It's happened before with this server...)

I wondered about that. Whatever it was, it was only this site; today it's back to normal, and I'm getting great speed out of my new Comcast cable modem service.

They (Combastard) must've already unleashed the 3 mbps download for Manassas because I saw the numbers you sent me over the weekend (via e-mail) and you're kicking my butt!!! I'm barely pushing a little over 1.6 mbps....

Maybe FLPilot is still waiting for the scheduled upgrade because the Combastards did it here first, a month ahead of schedule. Me complain, nah.
