Default Why can't I view new posts?

Why can't I view new posts? For the last several days, every time I click on the View New Posts option, the search replies that there are no matches found. I know there are new posts to be viewed, so what am I doing wrong. Or, have I inadvertently change some settings by accident. Does anyone have any suggestions?

ck55: Let's start with the basics in order to isolate the problem...

...are you clicking on the "new posts link" as indicated by the red arrow in the image below?

When you get the error message from the search routine that says no matches are found, can you cut/paste the URL from the browser into a post so that I can see it?

I just clicked on New Posts in the Home page (it said 0 new posts). Then I clicked on new posts on the forums page and it brought up the post by 4603PBA.

It's all workin' fine for me. Try logging out, clearing your cache (cookies and page temp files), then re-log-in.

The only possible glitch is if you hit the homepage and let it sit for several minutes w/o doing anything. It'll show new posts in the link title, but by virtue of your sittin' around doing nothing, it'll reset your most recent visit to your current one, and think there's nothin' new doin' when you click the link.

I have experienced the same result. I end up clicking on the option that lists today's posts. Produces similar results, though less efficient.

Kemo -

Yes, I am clicking on the new post link you have attached. I have logged in and out several times. I haven't let the computer sit for several minutes, either. I never had this problem until recently. I have this problem lately at home and when using my computer at work.

For now, I'll use sfhondapilot's solution of clicking the option that shows todays posts.

Any other help would be appreciated.

ck55: The other questions are:

1. Which web browser are you using (Netscape, Internet Explorer, other)?

2. As far as settings go, did you somehow disable cookies on you machine? Here's an excerpt on the use of cookies:

Angry

This happens to me all the time and its very frustrating. Today, there were 700+ new posts, and then after telling me it couldn't find anything, it resets my last visited, and now there's 1 new post. If I look at todays posts, there were 41. Is there any way to list the last 600+ posts now?

The problem comes and goes. I havent changed any browser settings, or deleted any cookies, etc...

Can anyone help?

On the home page, there is a link called "See Today's Posts". It will display all posts within last 24 hours. I often use that link if I start reading new posts and then go away for 30 minutes.

Hope it helps.

By the way, each post in a thread goes into the "total new posts".

If there are 40 active threads since your last visit and each had an average of 15 new posts, then the home page would display "600 new posts". But when you link pull them up, you only see 40 active threads.

Just now when I logged in, the home page showed 104 new posts, but the search only shows 31 new topics (i.e., threads).

Hope this helps.
