Default Snipped

I've seen responses to posts where quotes from the previous post were "snipped". How do you do that?

In the reply you wish to quote, click on "Quote" - lower right corner.

This will bring you to a reply screen where the quoted reply is bracked by the following: QUOTE and /QUOTE - both enclosed in square brackets.

I highlight the text I don't want retained, press return, type in [snipped] followed by return, i.e., all you are doing is editing the quoted reply.

Then I type my desired text.

Also make sure you put your reply to the quote after of the [/quote] tag. Otherwise your reply will end up inside the quote and look like it was part of the original message you are quoting.

And most people put their reply below the quoted statement, not above...
