190E occurs in the message text of every returned thread/post that a search for that term has.

FWIW the search feature doesn't (or shouldn't) return results from signatures. Keep in mind, though, that occassionally someone doesn't use the signature feature itself but chooses to cut-n-paste a signature into the message/post, which would be returned.

Another thought...
If 2GREENCARS (in this instance) was quoted as a reply to one of his posts, would the search engine find his 190E as part of the post or the sig? In the 6 threads that were found on blanket search 190E he was quoted, although his sig line of course doesn't appear in the quote. But 2 of the 6 I checked he WAS quoted in them. He's certainly posted in more than 6 threads so I'm thinkin maybe this is what happened in this case.

Ok, I think it's time to try and rebuild the search index. This is very server intensive, so I'll do it late tonight. Let's try to do some searching (not the soal type ) tomorrow.

Wow ,what a feature request . This is too much of expectation from a silly computer . I can assure you most of the search engines will do the same thing . Exceptions are where whole company is of search engine .
What i suggest , a window on the post . One click should take directly to me to the post . Not the whole list of pages with that post at the end of it , for a perticular thread . On next click i should be able to decide whether i need this info or not .
