Fun story, thanks for sharing. I also think the Pilot is underestimated by the "4x4" traditionalists out there. I'm on my my second one now and have always found it to be confident on the few occasions its left the pavement, and particularly in the snow and ice. Now, I wouldn't take it rock crawling, but driving it to most campgrounds and occasionally off the beaten path is really not an issue.
