We were just talking about this at the "water cooler".
I live in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn (close to Coney Island Amusement Park for those with Navi's) and work in Midtown Manhattan (50's). It already takes me an hour and a half to get in and will not even attempt commuting if there is a strike. I will telecommute and probably be more productive at home.
Most of the whiners here are complaining about there possible walk from Penn or Grand Central, I wish my commute was that civilized.
BTW, Strike is highly unlikely since union will be fined heavily and dont want to P.O. New Yorkers during the holidays.
