Default Chicago Area Dealer Recommendations

I live in Schaumburg, but bought my Pilot far on the South side, because that dealer had the model I was looking for at the time. I am coming up on my 15,000 mile service and I would like to find a good Honda service department in the Northwest or North suburbs. Would any of you recommend your local dealers.

I have had no trouble with Pauly Honda.

They are not the "supper special go out of their way for you, know everything" place, but they seem fair, courteous, and have not screwed up yet.

I agree with this despite the fact that they DID screw up with me and left the oil fill cap off at my 15k service. It was an isolated incident and they gave me a free oil change at my request when I discovered it at about 18k miles, plus they gave me my 22.5k service free - a $200 value.

Some of their service advisors are great, others are not (the younger ones tend to be better, IMHO), but the service manager is good and they get you in and out with much less hassle than other places. I have called around to closer dealers for service and been told that they can't get me in for nearly two weeks, but when I call Pauly, they always have asked me "When do you want to bring it in?" and accomodated me. This may be due to that fact that I bought the Pilot from them, so they give preferential service, I don't know - but it sure is nice.

I did not buy either car from them, and they give me the same "preferential service"

Thanks for the advice. I live about 2 miles from the Schaumburg store, but the atmosphere there gives me the hee-bee-jee-bees, (much to pushy for my tastes). I think I'll give Pauly a try.

Thumbs up Rosen Honda

I had the best buying experience @ Rosen Honda in Gurnee right next to Gurnee Mills Mall.

Really? I find that interesting. I live close to Rosen, but when I first found out about the Pilot (when it first came out), I looked at one there and they told me that I coudn't test drive one because they were all pre-purchased. I was told that if I wanted to buy one I'd have to do it on faith, and that no Honda dealer would have one for me to drive. I then called Pauly and they said, "Sure we've got one to drive. Come on down" So I did. I drove one at Pauly, and because they went the extra mile to actually have one on the lot for people to test drive, I bought from them.

Then when I needed service, I called Rosen again, since they are close. They said they could get me in in a bout 2 weeks. So I called Pauly and they said "When do you want to bring it in? Tomorrow is fine."

I haven't been back to Rosen.
