Default Comment: Text area for post input too narrow

Suggestion: Make it wider.

I didn't really want to start a new thread for something as trivial as this but this is a forum for comments and suggestions about the site.

This has subconsciously annoyed me from the beginning. The text area for posts is only 40 chars wide. Why? Composing messages would be much easier (especially with long links) at about twice that width.

Heh heh, ... sick minds think alike.

I did the exact same thing to get the width and I also use Firefox. But the attribute for the element is defined as cols="40". I changed it to 80 just for illustrative purposes.

I asked about this annoyance many moons ago, and apparently, it's built into the vBulletin software as a fixed width text field -- other forums (driveaccord.net and odyclub.com) also use the same vBulletin software and the text area is just as thin (40 columns wide)...

40 columns on Mozilla 1.6

Built-in as being the default value. I imagine it's changeable, probably by editing a template file (or somp'n ).

But, I really don't feel strongly about it one way or the other, and I sure don't know about all the things that might be affected by a change to the underlying OTS software. I just thought it would be a simple thing to change.
