I only started giving definitions because so many of the arguments were based on semantics, if not misuse!

Semantics (Greek semantikos, giving signs, significant, symptomatic, from sema, sign) refers to the aspects of meaning that are expressed in a language, code, or other form of representation. Semantics is contrasted with two other aspects of meaningful expression, namely, syntax, the construction of complex signs from simpler signs, and pragmatics, the practical use of signs by agents or communities of interpretation in particular circumstances and contexts. By the usual convention that calls a study or a theory by the name of its subject matter, semantics may also denote the theoretical study of meaning in systems of signs.

Can anyone remember the title and who started the thread that is missing?

The thread starter, a moderator or the admin are the only ones who could have deleted it.

I would think an admin or moderator would have said something, and a database error usually leave errors all over not just in one thread.

Wow, maybe more than one thread was deleted. All I remember was that N_Jay admitted to maybe erring on the side of being too sarcastic and expressed a great love for the quotes of Oscar Wilde.

Threads cannot be deleted on the board by nither by mods. Nor the starter. When we "delete" thread we just move it to a forum that is not visible.

To me this seems like a database issue. Need to ping admin to find out

LOL, or my "Err on the side of being too sarcastic" was just a sarcastic statement. (Just kidding)

But, it was not the fact it was an Oscar Wilde quote (or attributed to him), it was the line itself I liked.

I don't look at post counts and generally only use the "New Post" search so I really don't know how many are gone.
