Anyone seen Fahrenheit 911 yet?
I'm going to take my mother-in-law as soon as our new baby is born and she comes to visit--my wife will need a break.

I plan to see it the week after the 4th. My company shuts down that week, so I'll be on vacation.
I was in Costco today, and bought both the hardback and audio version of President Clinton's book. A lady in line asked my why I bought both. I replied that the audio version was read by President Clinton. Her reply- Our current president couldn't read his own book if his life depended on it.

Part of me wants to see it just out of curiosity but, I don't think I'd make it for more than 5 minutes.

I will never watch anything Michael Moore spews. Go ahead and flame me. I love our president, we are in this situation because of Clinton's lack of defense and foresight.

I would best describe myself as a fiscal conservative, social liberal middle of the roader who believes in less, not more, government, and certainly supports our Commander-in-Chief and troops. I even voted for Bush, because he was presented as a great uniter in Texas, forging bi-partisan solutions to tough issues. Now I find myself in a situation where I just want us to abide by the conventions, treaties and agreements we had a hand in developing, and not have a Vice President who "felt better" after telling a Senator to F himself. I'm at a loss to understand the lack of outrage at an Administration that seeks a lawyerly way out of treaties, spends $8000+ for curtains to cover "nude" statues, holds American citizens for months at a time without even an appearance of due process, awards sole source contracts with impunity, etc. etc. etc. ![]() One thing I know for certain - political discussions are very personal, and not appropriate for a public forum. ![]() Can you believe from reading this that I once considered myself a through and through Republican? Threaddrift is one thing; sorry to jack your thread, robrecht. Why is Martha Stewart on her way to jail over a $220,000 stock transaction, and Ken Lay hasn't been indicted yet, Mr. Ashcroft (not that Martha Stewart wouldn't look good in jail.)?

My wife and I wanna see it, more out of curiosity than anything else, because of all the hype and publicity...
It should be interesting -- she's a registered Democrat and I'm a registered Republican...

Guitarman - L M A O !!!
What our country does out in the world (regardless of who is president) all too often comes back to bite us in the ass. Forgot the comic's name but he summed up our foreign policy as: US to Country 1 - hey, here are some weapons you can use against Country 2 US to Country 2 - psst, Country 1 has some weapons they might use against you US to Country 1 - psst, they know about the weapons US to Country 2 - psst, they know you know LOL |

BTW, I just got back from the film. I wasn't planning on going tonight when I started this thread but then my son fell asleep early and my wife was going to bed so I figured, 'what the heck.' I thought it was a pretty good film. Disturbing, very moving at times. Compared with his other films, I found it remarkably straightforward. Some people like his sarcasm and smart-aleck tone and, obviously, some people hate him, but it's hard not to be moved at some of the footage. Personally, I respect his point of view as well as those who could not tolerate his tone in dealing with such painful and tragic recent historical events. My father taught me a long time ago that everyone has a right to their opinion. In the end, we're all in this together.
