Talking Mine! The oldest lawnmower in the universe!

Thought I'd share this little find with my friends

Picked her up over the weekend. She's a 1931 Moto-Mower "Detroit" with a Briggs and Stratton model PB engine. Brass everywhere, exposed pushrods, and a frame made of SOLID cast iron. Has a 27" cut. Offhand guess, she weighs in at around 350 lb.

This is going to be a fun project

Awesome find - it's almost like something they'd dig up on American Pickers. What do you think something like that is worth?

lmao! looks like that structure in the background could use a little more work than that old mower!

I really like the "deadman" features on those old tools - If you're not careful, you're a dead man.

God has a plan and Darwin knew what it is.

I just reframed the back door, and started doing some scraping on the house. I'm also starting to pull up the concrete in that area too. Funny, because I thought after I posted the pics, that I should have shot it in a better spot. It's the only area of the house that currently looks like hell

OH!! What's with da raggin' on da guy's house?!!

As long as it keeps you warm and dry during those long Buffalo winters, then it's got it where it counts.

Maybe I should have shown a better angle

I've never been a rich guy, and I've had to work hard for every dime I've had. Spent the last two winters in my garage working on snowblowers so that I could give my kids a good Christmas. I've got the busted knuckles, chemical burns, and deep scars in my hands from a life of turning wrenches. But I'm the same guy in person as I am online....just a good man that runs an honest business, and is in Church every Sunday.

And my house? Be it ever so humble, I'm proud of it

1) I didn't think the back looked that bad. I've seen worse - in my backyard. When the heat is 99- 101 like this week, little gets done.

2) Does the engine move the mower at all or just turn the blades? At 350 lbs, that thing would be a bear to push even on flat land.

I was excited about it in the beginning, but I ended up letting discretion be the better part of valor on that one. Too many projects, too little time, so I made some extra cash and sold it on ebay

I have to tell you though, the winner paid me extra to disassemble it, crate it, and ship it to Iowa. Never again will I go through that kinda work
