Default subscription running out...XM Deals?

Our subscription to XM is due to run out this month both for the house and the Honda. Has anyone gotten any deals from XM lately. I talked to them on the phone and they would not offer me any deal. Im thinking about letting the subscription run out or get close to and then try to score a deal. They wont let me have the $77 a year deal again. Any advice??

You must've gotten a tough rep. Call them back and select cancel. Tell them it's too expensive and they'll offer you the $77/year price. I just did this last week. $77 for one radio, $55 for radio #2 and radio #3, plus free standard internet (not premium).

My experience (not recent) is that if you just ask for a deal at the first stage, they'll balk. You have to start the cancellation process before they'll offer you the deal. The hassle of this brinkmanship required every year and hardware problems that essentially made a $400 investment in radios worthless are the reasons I gave up on XM.

My subscription just was up for renewal. Called and was first told they could do nothing. I told them I wanted to cancel, was transferred to another rep, who then agreed to give me the $77 deal, plus tax and the music royalty fee. Can't remember what the total price came to.

I also have another car with Sirius. Completely annoying that they claim they haven't merged their billing systems yet. Anyway, the Sirius subscription renewed automatically on my CC at full price. I called to complain about the charge and without a fuss the first person that answered offered to cut the price in half.

I just took delivery last week and the XM was already activated. So far it is working fine.

Thanks for the strategy. It will be used at the end of the trial period. This site has already been helpful and saved me some money. Hopefully I can contribute in return.

This week I did get renewed with XM for another year for the $77 half price + $8.52 music royalties + a $2 "invoice" charge for a total of $87.52. I had to call them a couple of times to get the amount straightened out after looking at my account online and receiving an invoice for $28 for a 2 month subscription. You need to watch these people closely when dealing with them because they either don't know what they're doing, or they are very good at pretending they don't.

Default I agree

I agree with you about watching the XM people. I'm convinced that it's more like they don't know what they're doing. I bought a new Pilot and called well before the trial period ended to cancel the account on my old radio (in an older Pilot that I was selling) and to buy a year's service after the trial ended in the new car. I did manage to get the service continued in the new car, but I'm not sure if the account info has been straightened out yet...over 2 months and 4 or 5 phone calls later.
