Default Karl Rove for Moderator

Rather than engage in this thread directly, I think I'll let Karl Rove point out how this is a partisan political discussion:

"I think he's going to make an intensely political choice, not a governing choice," Rove said. "He's going to view this through the prism of a candidate, not through the prism of president ... He's not going to be thinking big and broad about the responsibilities of president."

Rove singled out Virginia governor Tim Kaine, also a Face The Nation guest, as an example of such a pick.

"With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years, he's been able but undistinguished," Rove said. "I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America."

Rove continued: "So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I'm really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?" Link

Obama has nothing to offer so picking a running mate who had nothing would be silly. To be taken seriously in this whole thing Obama needed someone to prop him up. McCain doesn't so he has more flexibility in the choice of his running mate.

Obama said he was going to change Washington so he picked a 35 year Washington insider to run with.

McCain wanted to stir things up so he did.

It's interesting though to compare the expierience of the Dems number one pick to that of the Repubs number two??? Not sure why someone would go there, unless they're looking for a reason to look silly????

Why?

McCain; 23 years military experience, 26 years political experience
Palin; 13 years political experience in executive roles.

Obama: 12 years teaching, 10 years political experience in legislative roles (overlapping: 16 years total)
Biden: 35 years political experience

They look kind of even, except for the almost total lack of executive/managerial experience in the Obama camp, and my personal preference to have more experience on the top of the ticket rather then the bottom.

And even discounting my strong support for UofD alumni.

Actually, Biden has done a respectable job at "not" being a Washington insider. While, I am not a big fan, I think only in recent years, with his desire to be President, has he started carrying the party line over his own convictions.

He is certainly more liberal than my liking, but Delaware has unique politics with a very complementary mix of Republican and Democratic, conservative and liberal values.

P.S. For full disclosure, I am very pro-Delaware, Pro-UofD Alumni, and even have relatives in Wilmington and Scranton.

Good call..the conversation definitely changed today!

I just wonder if she brings any positive attention to McCain, or if it will be all supermarket-tabloid type drama that will take away from his campaign.

No, I think the only thing that is a "no-no" are your meaningless posts intended to do nothing more but inflame others.

But feel free to use your superior intellect and insightful observations to elevate the conversation. Oh, sorry, Never mind!

Yes, it has been interesting watching all the media talking heads spend all day talking about how it is not part of the political discussion.

Oh, I'm calm. I just expect nothing worthwhile from your posts.

How many months back do we need to look back to find anything valuable in any of your posts?

Haha! Yeah, I always think that is funny when they spend days talking about something that they say shouldn't be in the news.

You gotta love hyprocrisy, both from the media and the candidates they are reporting on.
