Default Holiday Dress Up

When I was growing up, holidays were usually a time when we'd get dressed up. Easter, especially, since that seemed to be the time we'd get new clothes. Even today, I usually find myself buying some new articles of clothing around this time of year.

Here's my younger brother and me from a couple of different Easters many many years ago. I captured these stills from a digital feed of 40+ year old 8 mm film that my grandparents had.

Great photos Jay.

Amazing what you find on some of the old 8mm movie film. I had some Super8 converted to VCR and then converted it myself to DVD. When I looked at it, I found a brief clip of my grandmother. Didn't even know it existed Luckily I had it done in VCR as my aunt doesn't have a DVD player. She said it is probably the only video of my grandmother.

Have to keep up with format technology as someday DVDs will be obsolete.

Cool pics, Jay! But I can't quite make out what you're both holding in the 2nd pic. Is that a bear or Easter Bunny and a guitar maybe???

It is hard to tell in that clip what we're holding. It's Easter baskets wrapped in red cellophane. We each got wiffle bats and balls with the basket, which is probably why the one looks like a guitar.

Two young foys with wiffle bats??!!! What was mom thinking. "That's right little borther, we'll play William tell with the bats, you just put the ball on the top of you head and I will hit it. Trust me!!" Wwaappp.

In the photo above, are you the one on the left? (Since you are the older brother.)

Wish I had a brother (or sister.)

I am the one on the left. My grandmother used to love telling the story about my brother running into the house, and asking her where his bat was, because some boys were scaring Jay with a rat, and he had to stop them.

Jay,

What software did you use to capture the still photo? I've got some home movie converted to DVD. I've also been playing with a Nikon CoolScan IV ED for 35mm negatives and slides.

I used iMovie on a Mac to capture those still frame shots.
