This year my Christmas shopping has been the easiest ever. Visits to three web sites, and I'm almost done.
Last year I started a tradition by getting most of the people I exchange gifts with the same thing. Last year it was musical snow globes. This year, it's scented "Wood Wick" candles. That was one purchase from one web site. The other was two other gifts for family, at another web site, and the last site was Best Buy for gift cards (with free shipping!). That just leaves me gift boxes, holiday cards, a bottle of bourbon, and something for my Dad. Woohoo! I'm almost done shopping, and never left the house!

My kids (19 and 24 haven't given me their "list" yet so I haven't even thought about shopping yet.
I may be the reason shopping is down. Have what I want. Don't need a new television (waiting till 2009). OK, would like a nikon D80 with 18-200VT lens and a 08 Mazda Miata Grand Touring PRHT in Green with tan leather seats but both are a little out or reach for now. Maker's Mark is a good Bourbon. Tried a McHenry's once but it was 100 proof which was a little too strong for my taste. A very nice wine I discovered here at HP.org is a Chateuneuf de Pape (Spelling probably isn't correct.) We have developed a tradition of having a bottle with Christmas dinner every year with the Beef Wellington. (Just bought the Beef Tenderloin on sale at $11 per pound for 7.3 pounds ) The wine will run between $29 to $39 a bottle (or higher). Thanks for the tip folks.

A hot item this year seems to be digital LCD picture frames. They're finally approaching acceptable quality and reasonable prices. My wife got some incredible Black Friday deals on line, so most of the adults in the family are done. The kids (all teenagers) are the real problem (just trying to avoid them thinking their aunt and uncle are just plain lame). Of course, cash is always king but that ain't Christmas, IMO.

Isn't it just the greatest thing that we can most (if not all) of our holiday shopping without ever leaving our house? You just can't beat the price or selection available by shopping online!
I just purchased a universal remote control for an entertainment center at 73% off list price from Amazon.com, including free shipping and no sales tax! What can be better than that? I might do all of my holiday shopping from home from now on.... But I'm sure the brick-and-mortar retailers will start lobbying for Internet purchases to be taxed if people keep it up with online purchases....

Story on the news said it was related to the fact people could get back to work and have access to high speed Internet connections.

Knocked out another gift today, something for my Dad, and got free shipping! I also ordered my cards at Hallmark.com. Five websites, 5 purchases. Now all I have left to buy are boxes and that bottle of bourbon.

Nice. I started the online gift buying a few years ago but didn't fully "convert" until last year. My wife and I have Amazon Prime membership and just got everything (except gift boxes and wrapping paper, and one Best Buy gift card) off Amazon. We love the two day shipping included with membership, but you have to watch when the expected ship date is, because free two day shipping doesn't mean jack when the expected ship date is 2 weeks after the fact. lol. We learned the hard way.

Thats cool, I am done also.
I went to Best Buy's Reward Zone Member Only event on Nov 11th and the store was closed to the general public. I got a free wireless mouse for attending! I bought a Wii system with a couple of games for one kid, an Ipod Video 80gig for another. Then I proceeded to WalMart SuperStore and finished up that Sunday Night at about 11pm...bought a Fur Real Pony for my youngest. Just have to get wrapping...
