Default Need Gas Power Washer Recommendations

Well, I'm finally getting around to cleaning up my parents' cabin. They passed away recently and I need to power wash their deck and dock area. I'm thinking of a decent but not too expensive gas washer. Can anyone suggest one? I've been checking out info on the web and have lots of info, but personal recommendations have more weight. Thanks.

I wouldn't go too crazy on one. I rented one from home depot once to bring life back into my deck before staining it. It was way too powerful and it caused the wood surface to become fuzzy which did not stain well. I had to sand it down. I've used kerosene powered steam cleaners which worked extremely well on wood planters. I would look for one that is very adjustable. It's surprising how little pressure is needed to make the wood look new again, especially if you treat it 1st.

After that incident, I bought THIS electric one to clean my brick and driveway in FL. Sort of pricey for electric at $350, but It is amazing! Only 1500 psi, but pushing 2.2 gpm is the key.

"Not too expensive" never means Honda powered.

On a side note..... I blew up a Honda powered 17 hp Craftsman mower. Took me several months of fighting to get my $1700 dollars back since I had it for a few months. I bought a 23 hp Kohler powered John Deere and am on my 4th trouble free Season. I love Hondas though. Will be getting a Honda snow blower this yr.

All you can do is go by track record. I think Honda has made a name for themselves by making generally reliable motors/engines. The used washer I'll be checking out has a OHC 5hp Honda motor. We'll see what happens.

Sorry about your folks.
If you don't want to rent, you might try Costco. My DH was looking at theirs. Don't know if they have any online.

I checked Costco and I think theirs was over $300. So, I bought a used one off of cl. Honda engine, 5 hp, OHC, and 2600 psi for $200. Reasonable enough considering how much I plan to use it.

Sorry to hear about your parents...

THis post may be late but it's funny because I just finished pressure washing my driveway and sidewalk. My wife bought me a Troy Bilt gas-powered PW about 3 years ago. If I'm not mistaken, it runs 2200 PSI and hasn't failed me yet.

I highly recommend getting a turbo nozzle in addition to the standard array of tips. Be careful though, depending on your PSI, the turbo nozzle can tear up a deck or siding.
