Default american idol...

I watch the show when I get a chance, and I find it amusing that people are voting for what many consider the worse singer (sanjaya) every week. so how much longer do you think he'll stay? my theory is that he's currently got so many votes (let's say 5M out of 25M votes), but he won't gain votes (as much as howard stern is trying) as others leave the show. so I think he'll easily make top 5, but that's as far as he'll go.

I'd like to see him go as he's a PITA to listen to, but I can fast-forward past him quick enough. He's become a Willilam Hung sort of personality now, but as long as he doesn't displace some truly good singers, he should get his 15 minutes of fame. But when one of Doolittle, Jones, or Lewis singers get voted off and he's still standing, it will be the end of my watching the show. (Honestly, I never thought I'd have any interest in AI, but with a 13-YO daughter in the house, you develop new interests and I've found myself interested this year, mostly because Doolittle is a rare and extremely talented gal.)

I wish Stern and company would get a life. It's just a stupid talent show.

I figure he will outlast Phil, Haley and Lakisa.

I wish Simon would get a life, its a stupid way to run a "talent show", and I love how Stern and company make the rest of the "entertainment media" look so stupid.

you have to admit...it's a really successful show. I think it's currently the highest rated show on tv.

if sanjaya were to come out and not even sing at all, I think he'll still make it to top 5.

Maybe that is part of the problem.

I guess not;
. . . . . if you are a mindless drone who thinks that a "talent show" where the voting is an uncontrolled mess is your idea of entertainment, and then when someone shows how screwed up the voting system is you get upset about it.

I agree.

It is awfully amusing to read the vitriolic comments on fansofrealitytv.com. This is entertainment, pure and simple.

I don't understand why others can't take the same attitude - if you think the show is stupid or the voting isn't fair, simply ignore it and watch something else.

Attempting to sabotage the voting as some statement of your disdain for the show is childish. It is no different in my book from someone coming on this forum and posting a billion "%^$# you" messages because they think that Pilots are stupid cars. Get a life and go do something else.

You don't get it.

Sometimes stupidity needs to be pointed out.
