Did any of you guys/gals buy the Honda Plus extended warranty? If I remember correctly, you're allowed up to 18 months(??) to purchase this warranty.
I have a 2004 and since the Pilot is an AWD, I figure it might be wise to get it since alot more can go wrong with it. I'm wondering what prices people have been getting for their extended warranty purchases. I'm looking at the 7 yr/ 130,000km comprehensive without roadside. Regularly $1195. I called one place and they knocked off $100 right off the top without me even asking. I'm wondering how low some people have been able to purchase this for. I know the General Discussions have this for the USA warranty but this doesn't help us Canucks. Thanks for your help! pulsar edit 1: Surfed www.odyclub.com in the Canada forum and saw that some dealers offer a money back if the extended warranty is not used. Does anyone know any dealers that do this and whether this costs more? |

I am not sure if you have gotten the extended warranty.
I am being offered 5yr/100k for $836 (normally $1534). I might take it.

Honda Canada's Honda Plus Extended Warranty Pricing Note the bottom of the pricing list ***Dealer may sell for less***. There are dealers who will sell it for less, I just want to know where I'd be able to get the best deal for the extended warranty and what the price would be. If you're being told $1534 was the regular price, that dealer is taking you for a ride. pulsar |

I tried though.I took the 7yr/160km package for 1524. I spoke to a previous co-worker and asked if I should go for 5yr, and he says, it is better for the 7 year bumper-to-bumper, since pilot will last for sometime. If I took the 5yr, I am only extending the major ones for 2 yrs (since it comes with 3yrs already). Great site!

I am leasing mine, and took out the extended 4yr/100,000km plan for 518. I agree with you regading the AWD. Now I am getting to the 80,000km mark, and need to consider the next step which is a 3/yr 60,000km additional. I too will shop around and not take the standard price. I think there are different rates for lease and purchase. I am certain I will be buying out the lease at the end. Good topic from the Canuck perspective.

Anyways, I was surfing the www.odyclub.com in their Canada section, and someone mentioned that Jim Proskos out at Cobourg Honda in Ontario will discount it. All they did was call him up, purchase it, and faxed the details over. The confirmation from Honda Plus warranty was then sent to him in the mail in 2 weeks. |

I'm actually located in Vancouver. From, what I understand, only GST is charged for the extended warranty so we should be able to purchase it anywhere in Canada. If I can get the 7yr 130,000km for my 2004 Granite Ed for $950 or so I'd probably consider picking it up. After all, that's probably the cost of one major repair. I've only had the Pilot for 5 months and I've only put 3000km on the vehicle.

Hi Guys,
sorry about the delay, I haven't been checking the forum lately. I purchased a 7yr/160k comprehensive warranty with roadside assistance for $1429. That price was (I'm told by the dealer) $100 over cost. SHHH...I'm not supposed to tell anyone....The regular retail price was listed at $1729. I found out later that this is NOT bumper to bumper coverage. No safety issues are covered under the comprehensive plan, including air bags (any part of the system), seat belts, etc.. However, these parts are covered under the standard 5 yr/ 100k factory warranty. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the info on the amount you paid for the warranty. If your info is correct, you should be able to knock approx 25% off of the suggested price to obtain the approx dealer cost. If I'm looking at the 7 year 130,000 without road side, it retails for $1195. If I can knock down by approx 25% then I should be paying somewhere in the low $900. Thanks! |

I'm also interested in getting the extended warrenty for my 2005 EX. I'm located in Regina, Saskatchewan, but can you buy it from any dealer, also what happens if you don't follow the regular service that the dealer recommends?

So how long do we have to purchase the extended warrenty????
Nobody has a straight answer. Every dealer is different and some say all the way up to 36 months. Hopefully I can get a hold of a dealer who is actually willing to deal. My dealer is quoted as saying "there is very little markup", haha yah right. |
