I think this vin database has a real potential for practical use. Properly presented, useful trends can be spotted related to maintenance concerns, etc. I am suspecting that there is no database-type backend because the VINs are being entered through the posts. I would think that a web-type front end where entries can be updated real-time would expand the information value of this resource and free up our mdoerator's valuable time in gathering and collating VINs from each post. I am not a database person myself, but I will be willing to volunteer my time if there are others who see a value in this proposal (if there isn't one already). I am sure Honda has an even bigger database of maintenance/fix trends through its dealership system, but I don't think it is going to make this information accessible through its Owner's Link site.

Just a thought.

Does anyone know if the 2004 models start back over with 500000? Obviously, the year in the VIN is different. If so, we may need to start a 2004 VIN table, since there may be duplicates.

If I understand the proposal correctly, this would be a great consumer tool, but I assume this would be a substantial time investment in coding.
