Default Objective Color Value Demonstrated: 3 Pearl Colors Scientifically Superior

Thought you all might be interested in this recent AP item:

It has now been scientifically verified that Sagebrush Pearl*, Redrock Pearl, and Nighthawk Black Pearl are the best Honda Pilot exterior colors. Unfortunately, the study was statistically underpowered to effectively and unambiguously differentiate among these top three colors, so a certain amount of subjective input may still be warranted in your selection criteria. Less controversially, the universal acclaim lavished upon Chrome Bumper Garnish was not called into question by this study in that inclusion criteria required that this accessory be installed upon all test vehicles.

"These results are absolutely stunning, commented Dr. Robrecht Guggenheim, the lead principal investigator and noted author, "and clearly demonstrate that the well known medieval axiom, De gustibus et coloribus et stylingibus non disputandum est, can no longer be unequivocally maintained in automotive domains." "While some lesser scientists have questioned the definitive nature of these data, eg, frequently commenting upon the tendency of these colors 'to show dirt', such mundane criteria really have no place in the scientific and aesthetic assessment of objective color value," according to Dr. Guggenheim.

Interestingly, some scientists speculate that the use of the term "Pearl" in all of these colors may have biased these results to a certain extent. Such supposition is supported, at least in part, by the fact that Midnight Blue Pearl and Evergreen Pearl were invariably ranked fourth or fifth by all participants. Of further methodological note, neither the investigators nor the participants were restricted from viewing the actual colors used. It was thought that a double-blind control was not appropriate for this type of study. Exclusion criteria in the selection of participants did specify that owners of Sandstone Metallic, Starlight Silver Metallic, and Havasu Blue Honda Pilots were not appropriate subjects since it was thought that their previously demonstrated color predilections would tend to bias results away from an impartial assessment of the prospectively defined primary outcome measure.

It should be noted that Dr. Guggenheim, past president of both The International Society of Hue and The European League Against Tint Degradation, is currently under investigation by the US Food and Drug Administration for overuse of both food and drugs, but Dr. Guggenheim has categorically denied that these results have been influenced in any way by the use or overuse of any illicit drugs. "Food, however, is an entirely different matter in that my extensive research into the best food stuffs has required a certain amount of empirical data and larger sample sizes assure greater statistical significance."

*Because this study was initiated last year, the new official name for Sagebrush Pearl--Charcoalishlygreenishbluishyrealpinkfleck metallic--was not referenced in the full clinical and statistical study report.

For more detail, see here and there and everywhere.

Oh yeah? Well, has any of this "rather large body reseach" been published in peer-reviewed journals or posted on reputable websites? See, for example, this in depth treatment. No need to cite this older, highly unscientific poll that has since been repudiated by prominant chromium thought leaders.

Hey, don't insult a2Pilot like that! He's entitled to his opinion. We must try and respect academic freedom on this board.

Robrecht, I think you are either unemployed or under challenged in your current job.

Default Scientifically Superior?

What does 'Scientifically Superior' mean? Is it superior in terms of safety, durability, personal prefernce, etc.? I bought the Red Rock Pearl because my wife liked it. I didn't really car what color it was.

It is scientifically proven that female cares more about durability and safety than cosmetic stuff like look. This might be the reasoning behind your wife's color decision.
