A great little car which I planned on keeping for a very long time. Then I saw a commercial for the Pilot. So much for loyalty, eh?

Our Pilot replaced a 1998 Tahoe. Even though it has given me a lot of problems, I hadn't planned on getting rid of it for a while longer. However, after an inadvertant testing of a Pilot (we were buying my wife a new CR-V, and just waiting for it to be readied), the wifey said "Wow -- you gotta get this!" Since I'm a fairly smart guy, I didn't argue.....

Replaced a 96 Mazda MPV (90K). Although ungainly looking it was one of the best cars I have every owned. It drove the same after 90k mi. as it did I drove it out of the dealers.

Default replaced 91 Voyager

I replaced 91 voyager. For an american car, it was fairly reliable, but it developed a valve leak in one of the cylinder after 150K.
I still have it but can't pass smog test so I either pay $800 for valve job or sell it as is.
My Pilot looks better but it cost almost twice as much.

We replaced a '97 Town & Country LXI
AWD. Good vehicle but after 160,000 she was tired. The Wife did not want another minivan. This will be our first Honda and I am looking forward to running it well past 200k.

Yeah but, I feel like I'm ratting out on my Accord. I mean, she's been the best little car in the world and I'm trading her in like she is disposable.

Of course, I firmly believe that Honda's have "feelings" ...

Hoping nobody throws a net over me
for that last remark...

My Pilot replaced a Toyota Land Cruiser that had it's lease expire today. My wife got it detailed and is returning it as we speak.

I have to say...We had NO problems at all with the Land Cruiser and loved every minute of having it.

We looked at the residual on it when the lease was (is) up and decided to get a new vehicle with a new warranty for the same amount.

The Land Cruiser was $55,000 when we got it...residual was around $33,000. We spent the $33,000 on a Pilot and got a new warranty and a cool Navigation system. Both seat 8 people (actually the Pilot rear seats are more comfortable) and lowered our payments and Insurance.

We took the Pilot on a trip to Myrtle Beach the first day we had it (we are in Orlando, FL) and loved driving it. The NAV system actually saved us from several hours of stopped traffic on I-95 by showing us US-19 up the coast that we would have never taken looking at a regular map. Turned out it was fast hiway driving and no traffic. 10 miles north of where we got off there was a 3 hour delay due an accident on I-95.

We have the rear camera on it and it seems to be the OH COOL feature everyone loves. I love being able to back up and I can see exactly how far I am from the bumber of the car behind me. When I have some time, I plan to add a switch so I can flip on the rear view anytime, not just when in reverse. That way, I can check a trailer or the cute girls behind us.

I do wish they had the Nav and RES available together. We would have bought that. We do have a small portable DVD Player we can use in the car but the installed one being integrated is cool.

My pilot is going to replace a 1995 Buick Regal Coupe with the 3800 V6.

This car has given me no problems up to its current 76,000 miles. I hope that Honda's are as reliable as this Buick has been.....

2001 Toyota Highlander Limited 4WD V6, loaded, 18k miles, purchased July 6, 2001. Had been a demo, the dealership owner's ride.

Pilot has a bigger engine, 40 mor HP, uses regular gas, same mileage.

Pilot is larger (5 inches wider) quieter, has a much better sound system.

Only other Honda was a '98 Accord LX, which I should have never traded. I expect to be a Honda loyalist hence-forth.

Number 3 reason DVD
Number 2 reason 8 passenger and not a van

Replacing a 1994 Explorer - Eddie Bauer edition with 140,000 miles. We never thought about anything other than another SUV. My wife hates minivans, but would admit that she admires many of the features that a minivan offers.

We have 2 active kids, we camp locally about 8-10 times a year, and have integrated an SUV into our lifestyles since 1988. We don't change cars often (see above mileage), and were looking for features and dependability with our new SUV. I think we are the target market for every single feature and element of the Pilot.
