Default REALLY Want A Pilot But Won't Fit In My Garage!

Hi everyone I'm new here and thought I'd give this a try before having to decide on another vehicle, which I'd rather not have to do.

I'm in the market for an SUV and really want the Pilot but unfortunately it, according to the specs, it simply won't fit in my one-car garage (or perhaps it may, but VERY carefully).

According to Honda's specs, the Pilot is 78" wide and I was able to measure each side mirror at the dealer at right around 11" each --that's, what, like 100"?? --and the opening to my garage is 92"!!

I know that unlike, say, the Kia Sorento and the Ford Flex, the Pilot has no power-folding mirror feature, but would anyone here happen to know of any possible way this can be done aftermarket?

Would appreciate any feedback as this is the car I want and don't want to have to settle for something else because of my stupid garage

Thanks!

the mirror base isn't on the widest part of the car.

So what would the total width mirror-to-mirror be? --and why on earth doesn't Honda include this very important info in their published specs??

from mirror to mirror is just over 85"

count it as 86" for good measure.

from where I measured to the outer most edge was .5" hence the 86" REALLY Want A Pilot But Won't Fit In My Garage!-imageuploadedbyag-free1358114254.257882.jpg

Hey, you're in sunny southern California. Why do you need a garage?

Seriously, I just measured my garage opening and it's 93 inches across. When I pull my Pilot into the garage, I'd estimate that I have maybe about 2" of clearance (maybe slightly less) from each open mirror as I pull in - and it feels tight.

Each mirror and mount is about 10.5 inches wide, but that is measured from where it attaches. Keep in mind, the vehicle side body panels bow outward - the maximum width being at the door bumper strip. Measured from there, it looks like the mirrors only stick out about 5.5 inches further on each side. I haven't measured that accurately with a plum line though, so I could be off a little. It's dark out right now.

The dealer should be willing to let you test drive one home to check the fit in your garage.

Wow, I always just assumed the width quoted by Honda would include the mirrors. It seems silly to quote width without the mirrors, as I would think more people would be using the width to determine garage fit, than for any other purpose.

Could not agree more! Ford includes in their specs the width WITH the mirrors, without them, and with them folded!

I think more car companies should take note from them
