Default Mobil 1 on sale at costco

4.50 a quart after coupon. Honda blend is $3.50 by the case. I'm doing my own oil as I do on all my cars. What is everyone else doing for oil changes? Any opinions are welcome. The only other thought I've had is wondering whether I should let the dealer do it just to keep a warranty record. But, frankly, I do a better job because I don't mind spending an hour to do it right. I was letting Subaru change the oil in my outback for warranty purposes. I checked the oil one day and there was a big spill down the timing chain cover. I lay out a bunch of cardboard and rags to avoid such issues.

Edit for posterity's sake. I went with the Mobil 1. It was $5 even per quart after tax/coupon. More than twice the price I paid for conventional but worth the piece of mind for $15/year extra. I won't worry letting it sit in the vehicle for a year at a time. I bought three cases, 18 quarts, so I won't need to buy oil again for 3-4 years.

That's a pretty good deal. I normally buy the 5-qt jugs at Walmart for $27 or so (about $5.40/qt), so it's definitely worth checking out. Do you know if Costco carries the 0W-20 Advance Fuel Economy oil?

As far as oil changes go, I've always done them myself, regardless of being under warranty or not. Just make a copy of the receipt for the oil and filter (receipts tend to fade over time) and stick it in a binder in case you need to prove that you've been performing the necessary maintenance. Like you said, I take my time and wipe everything down. I also like to pour a little bit of oil into the filter before I screw it on. Not sure if there's any benefit to doing it, but it's become somewhat of a habit for me now.

Mine has always had 5-30 and 10-30. This time around they also have a tall pallet of 5-20. Based on my sighting and other reports, some, but not all, locations are carrying 20. If you're in las vegas, try the henderson store.

There is a Magnuson-Moss warranty act in place for a reason so I wouldn't worry about the dealership giving you trouble about doing your own maintenance. I also used to buy that $22.50 jugs at Walmart but not they are more like $27 now, still a good deal.

On the weights I hardly see 0w-20 anywhere regardless of the brand.

honda dealer charge about $56 for oil change castrol syn blend and Honda OEM Filter.

I will do myself. It is easy. Mobil 1 and OEM Filter cost about $32. I am thinking about using mobil super 5000 $13.97.

Some costco carry 5w20 now. I think costco will carry 5w20 in the future. If not, you can always buy it from walmart.

-EDIT- Nevermind, I took the time to search, thanks!

This may have been covered but it's easier to ask... When you change your own oil does the oil life indicator reset back to 100% or does this have to be reset another way? If so, can a owner reset it and how, thanks!

You MUST reset it manually. It's in your owners manual. Hold the button down for a long damn time and it will reset. How you do it depends on what year your Pilot is.

My local Costco just started carrying the 5W-20 M1 as well (in addition to the 5w-30 and 10W-30), so apparently they're modifying what they stock to meet changing demands.

When not on sale, Walmart and others have a better price, but right now Costco is doing $10 off a 6-qt case (limit 3) which makes it a good deal.
