Is it just me....or does anyone else think that the newer Pilots have more trouble than the earlier models?

No real regards in specific, just think there has been some unsatisified buyers with the newer models it seems. I just think the 1st gens are pretty tough vehicles. Just my personal opinion.

Seems that all of the bells and whistle add ons is the items they seem to have most trouble with.

Such as?

Seems like the biggest complaints have been MPG and hard starting, and those have been around from the beginning.

Hp2004, are you talking about THIS forum? Because I'm not getting the same observations as yours.

Should have been here back in 2004-5 when the 03/04 tranny issues were all you'd read about.

We don't have Bluetooth, Etc to confound us. But I do think I got lucky with the 05 avoiding the early VCM, noise cancellation issues.

Not just this forum, Not saying the newer models are not nice, would love to have one. I just think the technology in these newer vehicles are getting so, that when something goes wrong you have to spend a bunch of money to get something fixed. It takes the shade tree mechanic out of the equation to try and fix it.

Shade tree mechanics went by the wayside with Clean Air requirements, Ethanol fuels, Fuel Injection, CPUs, Oxygen sensors, ABS, and the like.....Way too many computer regulated devices that the shade tree was overshadowed by....

1. I only go here to read and discuss the Pilot, not familiar what's going on with other sites in regards to the Pilot. I used to be at Edmunds to get help from my CRV, but I don't go there anymore. I like the format here.

2. You mentioned unsatisfied buyers, I'm relatively new here and I'm not that familiar with all posters yet, but I can't think of anyone who recently bought a newer model Pilot that's not satisfied.

3. You can't specify a particular issue, so it's hard to discuss.

4. The technology part what made me get the extended warranty. Too many electronics that can't be fixed using wrenches, pliers, and drivers.
But this is true for all modern vehicles, not exclusive to the Pilots.
