Default removing 2nd and 3rd row seats

Did anybody remove 3rd and/or 2nd row seats? Did it interfere with seatbelt and/or airbags electronic systems?

There have been threads on this and first gen Pilot owner removed the third row but simply unbolting it. You might want to run a search.
No issues with belts or airbags.

I don't think there are any passenger sensors so you should be OK.

Just watch for any wires. Airbag system wires are usually yellow.

ive removed both of them and not had any issues. simply pop off the trim pieces and unbolt them from the floor. no airbag wiring is in those areas.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I don't have a Pilot but am considering getting one (2011 or 2012, I actually like the look of 2011 better).

Part of my requirement is to have lots of cargo space as I will be using it to transport boxes of electronics for my business, while still practical enough for everyday use as well as having the 3rd row for the rare road trip with > 5 people. I considered the Highlander but the cargo area behind 3rd row is just too small for a trip. A minivan best meets all my needs, but I just really don't like minivans

For larger shipments (ie > 1 pallet of stuff), I'll probably be putting them in a trailer and towing it with the Pilot. For smaller deliveries, (eg. stuff would fit in a 4'x4' pallet) I'm hoping to be able to fit the stuff inside with 2nd and 3rd rows folded down so I don't have to tow. That's why I'm interested in the seat removal in order to maximize interior space.

Can you please comment on how much space you gain without the 2nd and possibly 3rd row seats? It would be awesome if you can show some pictures! (for a 2009+ model)

Thanks!

My Pilot is going to be order from factory this Monday and I should have it at the end of February (Metal metallic/black, Nav 4WD). I will be removing those two rows right away because I need space for my bikes putting them upright when going to races. In case I forget, send me email cyklista303@yahoo.com around beginning of March and I will send you pics.

Couple of old threads. While they spec the first gen Pilot, suspect the second gen is identical

Removal of the second row seats

Get help physically moving the seats out of the car. They are heavy!

Wow that would be great, thanks!

Actually I went and testdrove the 2012 EX yesterday. Coming from small compacts, the acceleration is a bit less responsive than I am used to. Also, the wife is saying that the bottom of the steering wheel is too close to her legs. (She's only 5' and have to move the seat right up so that her legs can reach the pedals. So ironic that the smaller person is complaining about not enough room)

You can't actually "order" a Honda. They have an allotment system. If the dealer has what you want on his allotment, then he can hold it for you. If he does not he can request a change to get what you want. The request may or may not be honored.

Even if the vehicle is on the allotment, sometimes it does not show up. (Damaged at the plant, or pulled for engineering or marketing use, etc.)
