I need some opinions on which Pilot is the better buy. Both are from the same Honda dealer. A 2005 EX-L with 102000 miles or an 2006 with 85000 miles. The price on the 05 is 10900 and the 06 is 13800. They are both in great shape and neither is certified. Car fax clean on both. The only extra's would be a bug deflector and running boards on the 05. Thanks for your help!

With the $1000 105 k service coming up, and maybe tire replacement on the 05, all other things being equal the 06 looks better. It also has increment improvements over the 05.

I would bargain down the price as much as possible and get the 06. There were a lot of changes for that year. The exterior looks aside (some like it and some don't), the biggest change points for me is that it has the 4-shaft transmission from the Ridgeline which has shown to have less issues than the older 3-shaft one. Also, the instrument cluster is no longer green, and is now white LED and you get amber-colored ambient lighting of the consile area. Looks way more modern.
Also, MAKE SURE the 06 is a 4WD one because that is the first year that 2WD was also available (to be an apples to apples comparison to an 05). |

As said I would rather go for the 06 and bargain down the price somewhat. Granted it's sitting at 85k miles it's still high enough to negotiate for the $1000 maintenance coming up within 1-2 years.
Also I'm just being picky because I do own a '06 and I love it. |

I would spring for the 06. I have an 06 EX 4WD model and love it. I have done a few things to it to make it nicer, but overall the 06-08 is much nicer than the 03-05 model years.
