Default I'm surprised there's not more Pilot fanatics

I came from a BMW 330ci and a BMW 530i and was a part of a huge community of fanatics. Making the jump over to a Pilot I naturally figured there'd be a large community as well but apparently, there isn't. What a pity. These trucks are awesome and I still can't figure out why the numbers aren't through the roof regarding active members here or Pilot forums in general on the web.

Just figured I'd post a thought. Hopefully more activity will start pouring through in the new year.

because we're mostly practical family folks, looking for the best for the buck to haul around the family, while avoiding the stigma of a mini van? (yeah that's why I got one )

the majority of threads are of the, "how do I save money by DIY?"

in contrast, like the non-practical BMW crowd, while the jeep community is interested in diy to save money, they are equally passionate about performance mods to improve offroad capabilities (eg. hemi swaps, armor plating, axle swaps, lift kits, bumper swaps, winches, etc...).

even the pilot aftermarket consists of just improved (over OEM) replacement parts (though alot of folks on here seem to prefer oem vs aftermarket - whereas the opposite is true in say the jeep segment). for a "truck" I was surprised they didn't even have an aesthetic lift kit avail... even the accord/civic (like the jeep/BMW/etc,) have a huge aftermarket segment (ie upgrade oriented). to me, this is just another indicator that pilot owners are not your typical car aficionados looking to upgrade their pilots.

anyone disagree?

Default Disagree

I for one would like to see more aftermarket performance parts and a more enthusiastic group.possibly window decals for the website group such as the ones we had when I had a Volvo xc70.

I agree with you and see it for what it is as I am a family man myself but with that said, the Pilot is a great truck and can't see people looking for a good SUV to also mod a little bit passing it up. I've seen quiet a few over the past few years driving around with some nice looking wheels, dropped, raised, kits, etc so when I finally bought mine (couple weeks back) I swore there would be a stronger presence online. Not complaining, I'm just a little surprised that's all.

SUV's aren't really a "car-guy" type of vehicle. I am a car guy. I only come here to help out cause my wife has a Pilot that I must maintain, and I know forums are the best way to get a heads up on potential problems.

Why are people calling the Pilot a truck? Doesn't make sense to me.

This forum isn't as active as some of the other forums but then it could be the type of vehicle the Pilot is.
I'm kinda glad it doesn't have a huge aftermarket so I can't mods the hell out of it. After the moddings my last 2 cars to death it's good that I can't with this one.
On the other hand it would be nice to see more activities on here.

Personally, I call mine 'the Pilot'.

Frequently when you're looking for parts and stuff on the web, Honda has 2 'manufacturer' headings... one says only Honda, the other says Honda trucks

So I guess it could be construed as a truck, but that's a stretch in my opinion

Then call it a crossover. It's not a truck and has nothing in common with a truck. I just think its funny to see the Pilot called a truck.

It's a truck to me and always will be. Not saying that's what they are but I've always looked at SUVs as that.
