Yeah, Kemosabe, with as bad as prices are getting "down Montgomery County," it might be worth your while to plan on going by the Costco on Wed. nights when you're in Frederick. Also, the WaWa convenience store on Ballenger Creek Pike is usually within a cent or two, if not matching, the Costco price, if you're out that way.

I've had to stop going to the Costco in G-burg; not only is there no gas, but you practically need a Hummer to get through the crowds there.

Hey Ziploc... you ain't kiddin' about the crowds at the G-burg Costco: mama mia!!! Those checkout lines are looooooong even with all the registers open!!! And let's not even mention the lines to grab the freebie food samples!!!

...and now, back to our regularly scheduled thread...

Just wanted to share this e mail I got.

You Think A Gallon Of Gas Is Expensive?

Makes one think, and puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 .................. $10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19..................$ 9.52 per gallon
SunDrop (a.k.! a ! "liquid crack")2L $1.49 ......$2.82 per gallon
Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 .......................$10.17 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 .................. $10 .00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ................... $33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ................. $178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .................. $123.20 per gallon
Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....................... $25.42 per gallon
Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 ........................ $84.48 per gallon
and this is the REAL KICKER......
Evian water 9 oz for $1.49 ........ $21.19 per gallon.

$21.19 FOR WATER! ....and the buyers don't even know the source.

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on
water, Scope, or Whiteout, or Heaven forbid, PEPTO BISMOL or
NYQUIL!!!!

Just a little humour to help ease the pain of your next trip to the
pump...........!

Talk about pain....your post reminded me of the time I bought some fancy brand of bottled water for about $2.99. I wish they HADN'T listed the source: Schenectady, New York, municipal water supply!!!!

On my recent trip to SC, I bought regular-unleaded gas for as much as $1.759 in Metropolis IL to as low as $1.459 in Duncan SC.

Seems that is has leveled off for the time being!!

Default Full Serve, No Less!

There's a gas station near where I live that's a bit of a throwback--FULL SERVE! I went by there last weekend (March 22), and they were at $1.65 (reg). Not too shabby, it seems!

Hey MD and CA are both on the ocean. Prices should be about the same. Hey enjoy it while you can, right?

I guess it's all the transplants moving to CA that drive those darn SUVs, huh?

Don't forget about taxes!

And the cost of the land the station sits on!

And the cost of the house the station owner lives in!

And the cost of the polution control equipment the station has to maintain!

Now why was it I moved away from CA???

Nice one Kemo. I'll clear out the back bedroom for you guys.

N_Jay, it's worth the extra cost to live here. I still love it.

You sure?
Let me know after my 10 MINUET 8 MILE drive home to 3200 SQ FEET on 1/3 ACRE, and pull into the THREE CAR GARAGE, then I can go down in my FULL BASEMENT, and rerfinish some furniture with standard paints (as opposed to LOW VOLITILITY crap), knowing that my kids are safe and happy in the local PUBLIC school, while my wife has the CHOICE to STAY HOME!

Yup, still worth it. No snow and crappy weather here. 20 minute, 11 mile drive from work. Safe schools in our small town and wife is planning on being an "at home mom" after the baby comes in July.

Chicago's 8.75% sales tax is broken down as follows:

State of Illinois 5.00%
City of Chicago 2.00%
Regional Trans. Auth. 1.00%
Cook County 0.75%

Total 8.75%

Kind of high, n'est-ce pas?
