I would just like to say Whoopeeeee!
After about a year and a half, with nearly 3 weeks of that spent in the dealer's service bay, and several quite deep forays of my own, I have finally eradicated the final significant rattle from my Pilot. It sorta-kinda doesn't count because this last one was actually caused by a loose bolt left by the dealership tech after his last (rather successful, finally) round of rattle-hunting. During this final hunt, I got to see just how much sound deadening and padding the dealership had to add to the guts of my dash in order to finally get it quietened down. I now also know more than I ever wanted to about the innards of my A-pillars, front doors, AC system and general front dash/console contents and engineering. I'm pretty sure I could tear the whole front of a 2nd gen Pilot cab apart blindfolded at this point. Granted, there's still a bit of a frame creak down by the front passenger door sill, which they almost but not quite managed to fix quite early on. The fix for that one did so much other damage though, that I daren't have them try the job a second time. Took months and months to get the AC system working right again. Now, all I have to do is persuade them to fix my rear tailgate hinge trim and replace my AC clutch and fan relays with ones that don't arc and crackle every time they turn off and I'll have a car that's almost in showroom condition (for the first time ever!) Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I'm genuinely delighted! I've been driving around for a year and a half with the sorts of creaks and rattles that you couldn't turn the radio up high enough to cover, it's going to be lovely driving to work with the radio actually off for a bit. Dermot.
