Question 2004 Honda Pilot Air Bag concerns

Hi From Colorado!
I have a 2004 Honda Pilot with 198,000 miles. Best vehicle I have ever owned! It has been well maintained. Today my daughter was driving to college, and over corrected to avoid going off the road, and the car swearved and she went off the road, and rolled it 3 times and then hit a fence. She is ok, just sore and shook up. The airbags did not deploy. Should they have?
I would be interested in any comments, and what I should do. We have not seen the vehicle but my daughter said it definetly is totaled. All I can say is Thank you God, for dispatching Your angels around her! After a CT scan, a MRI and sonogram, my daughter had no injuries, bumps or bruises, and was saved from death today. <3

It is not uncommon for airbags to not deploy, when one thinks they should. It all depends on the car hitting in just the right places and on how fast the car is decelerating. I experience the same thing with my CRV when I wrecked it. I was going down an interstate at 55 mph or so, and spun out into the guard barriers, not a single airbag deployed. I wouldn't be concerned, if she has no injuries, there was apparently no need for them to go off. It's too late now anyhow to 'fix' them if there was a problem. I'm glad your daughter is safe and unharmed. The Pilot did its job well.

Since it rolled 3 times I would bet the "impact" forces were not that high, hence why no airbag deployment.

Sounds normal.

Glad everyone is OK.

1: Its frowned on to post twice in a forum.
2: Front airbags deploy when there is an impact on the front of the car. Since it doesn't appear that the front was impacted by the accident, then they wont deploy

Best of all, your daughter is ok. When you get to see the pictures of the car, I bet you'll be amazed at how solid it really is.

Here is a thread to another Pilot rollover with pics
