Default 03' Rear A/C Not Blowing

I have tried to use the search function to find old threads about the rear a/c problems. I have a Silver 2003 Honda Pilot EX-L with VTM-4, ever since I bought this car back in 2009, its rear A/C center console will not blow any air when you have the "manual rear a/c" button pressed on the front dash controlls. The little light right next to the selector knob on the rear of the console does illuminate when the "manual rear a/c" is pressed though. I remember awhile back hearing that this may be caused by a probem with a transistor? Help, please.

Try this thread. You can either buy a new transistor for about $70-$80 or replace the thermal cutoff inside the transistor. The later of the two is the only about $2 for parts and maybe $10 for shipping, but will require a soldering iron. I personally replaced the thermal cutoff, and it has worked so far. If you need any more help (with parts or what not) just ask.

I just soldered a jumper wire across the bad resistor for free. It's been running fIne ever since. The resistor they used is total junk. According to my infrared thermometer, it blew at 130f. That is a normal temp for an electronic speed control inside a car at 90f plus.

I dont know if this method is safe for the electrical system. Could it pose a fire risk?

No offense but it's bad practice to just short anything. I highly recommend nobody do what was said above. Instead buy the $2 thermal fuse and soldier it properly.

nothing is shorted. The fuse is bypassed. With an outside temp of 110*f, the speed control runs at ~135-140*f.

Whatev'

Does anybody have a link to these fuses? I know it's $2, but where is that from? I couldn't find anything with all the other threads. The one place people used in the other threads doesn't carry this part any longer.

I just replaced my transistor myself. Now my rear a/c works! The transistor cost me $138 at my local Honda dealer. They had it in stock immediately. Thanks guys!
